Lot of interest from championship clubs, but won't be loaned out due to his £18k a week wages, according to, ahem, the Star.

Which makes sense if he's in Southampton's 25 (I haven't checked) but insane for them not to cover some of his wages whilst loaned out if he isn't.

Update: doesn't have a squad number, so presumably not in the squad. Are Southampton so loaded that they don't care about saving at least some of his wages? Strange.

I'd have him everytime. I can't see Harry going for him though, he usually only seems to go for players he knows. Which is why I was quite surprised when he signed Austin.

I checked the other day and he is in their squad. But that maybe because they dont have enough to fill 25 spaces without him.

He wont get much game time though as they have Lambert, Osvaldo and Lallana ahead, plus others!

I remember Harry going to watch Austin once when he was at Spurs
Austin scored but Harry said he was not interested

Without wishing to be too insensitive, what has his form been like since his son died? Have to say I've not heard much from him recently and wonder if it's understandably had an effect on his form.

After his son sadly passed away, he went out on loan. He has been at Forest (last season) and was out somewhere else before - I think Doncaster but could be wrong. He wasn't one of the Forest managers favs so I think he is in the Saints reserve team - however as mentioned earlier, Southampton have other options ahead. He would be a good signing for QPR If we could get him - he has something to prove and is hungry for an opportunity.

Only a couple of days, was born with a very rare condition. I think Sharp scored in his first game back for Doncaster afterwards.

Ah, its just the way people are saying its "understandable" his form has suffered since this incident. Hard luck on that lad sure but its not as if his son was 5, 6, 11 or 12 is it? How many women do we know that have suffered stillbirths? When people say "since his son died", it sounds totally different to what was actually the case.

Jesus Christ, there's blokes that have had numerous such incidents but had to get up and go down coalmines, up scaffolding, the back of bin trucks etc the next day, in order to keep a roof over the head of his wife and other children. Not too sure it was viewed as such a tragedy in those circumstances, rather a nasty inconvenience of child mortality.

I'm sure the man in question had ample room for recovery with his weekly 18 Grand softening the blow.

Read the thread again. Watford asked the question, but no one has said his form has suffered or that he has made an excuse of it. In fact he has scored a goal every 3 games since his son died. Do the research before you launch into the condemnation mate. His profession and wage are completely irrelevant anyway.

You lit the fire and now you're stepping back and washing your hands of it as the flame gathers strength.

Highly irresponsible behavior from a Senior member if I'm honest.

To be fair to Billy Sharpe, and as far as I'm aware... He has never used the death of his son as an excuse for his form. Not that it's actually that bad in any case. 9 goals in 17 appearances for the Saints and 10 in 39 for Forest. Before that at Doncaster he scored 25 in 49. That equates to a goal every 2.38 games since his son's death.

does that mean if he loses another son it will take him over 3 games to score a goal
