The plot thickens http://www.football365.com/transfer-centre/7421260/NEW-DEAL-FOR-ROVERS-SHARP Just hope we come to a decision one way or another and today.
I think its to save face with their fans, quite alot of their fans are upset that Donny are letting Sharp go so easy, they have been shouting from the rooftops about the 3M clause and its really around the 2M mark. If they really wanted to keep him why wait until Jan and you have accepted a bid to offer a new deal, surely they would have tried to sort this a long time ago We will offer at least twice the amount they offer
i hope we do, but im not entirely convinced we will get him to be honest, for me the bigger priority is getting some decent midfielders. wouldn't say no to sharp, but not sure we need anymore strikers, when there all fit we have loads, unless were gonna ship some out of course..........
Here´s the choices... 1. He stays at DRFC on his current wage. 2. He stays at DRFC & plays Div 1 football next season. 3. He stays at DRFC this season then move in the summer having just realised he should of left in Jan. 4. He stays at DRFC & plays his football in a small ground. 5. He stays at DRFC & does´nt improve his career 6. He moves to LCFC on a better deal 7. He moves to LCFC & plays his football still in the NPOWER or pos the PREM next season. 8. He moves to LCFC & says thank **** i did that. 9. He plays his football in a 32,000 seater plush stadium. 10. He moves to LCFC & forfills some ambitions.
i suspect Donny are offering the contract to show the fans they dont want to "effectively" relegate their club because its Billys goals that could give them a fighting chance. However Billy will hold out for a club with better prospects, a la West Ham for example
Billy Sharp has said he doesnt want to move too far away from Sheffield. Leicester to Sheffield isnt that far while London to Sheffield is a decent trek West Ham have this guy lined up anyway http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/jump?http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/7421451/ And i really cant see a prem club coming in. Its between Leicester and Donny
11. He accepts an improved deal and agree's to stay until at least the end the season to help Donny stay up, to repay them for the support they showed him during his recent tragedy.
Saying that he might aswell sign for Ipswich then and repay them for the support they showed him http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...ncaster-for-the-right-club-article848112.html
Every club would have done exactly the same thing, plus its nothing to do with football, its not like hes been out injured for 2 years, and now hes fit wants away.
AKCJ - I'm sure it wasn't intended but, that could almost be interpreted as a compliment to OLM for a valid point made. Billy Sharp would not be the first player to stay for just one more season etc to help appease the reaction of fans etc ... Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo ....
It was a classic OLM comment in that everything that happens goes against the wishes of Leicester. He has some weird obsession for us to fail horribly, I couldn't care less about what happens to Dull.
The fact that Billy Sharp ends that article with his wish to play premier league football rules out your club andy kings balls ....
Who, out of Leicester and Dull do you think looks most likely to be in the Premier league next season. Now that Barmby has been found out? (what is is, 3 games no goals in the league)
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...ncaster-for-the-right-club-article848112.html doesnt sound good for us...
Sounds quite good IMO. He's ruling Doncaster out without being too horrible to their fans. We're the only club to have come in with a bid.
Ed - wouldn't read too much into it .. he doesn't actually say he wants the Prem 'right now' ... and whist he may have the 'ambition' I don't think he will fancy sitting on the bench for more games than he actually starts - so who is going to buy him? I've seen Fulham mentioned.. but I watched them play at Norich not long back and their front two of Dembele and Sa looked very impressive plus they also have Ruiz (who cost a tidy sum), Zamora and Andy Johnson - so they would need to offload at least two of them for him to even get a sniff .. Any other Prem club that might be interested is likely to be involved in the relegation dog-fight - so whilst he may get a short term gain in a move to one of them, his stated ambition could well be very short lived .. At the end of the day, if he is not fully enthused about joining our quiet revolution then we should drop our interest immediately and look for someone who will join us with the necessary committment, energy and enthusiasm needed to become a great at our wonderful club.
My comment was in no way a comment on Leicester, I posted it purely because I don't think that Billy Sharp is your average footballer. With almost any other player, if you'd agreed a fee with his club and offered him two or three times the money he was already on, then he'd have signed already. I think there's other factors that come into play with Billy, he is a rare breed in the game nowadays, as he seems to put several things ahead of money. I'm sure you've offered him way more than his improved Donny offer, he's close enough to Leicester for travelling not to be an issue and I think this one is purely down to Billy deciding if he's happy to leave Donny in the position there in, or if he feels an obligation to see out the season with them.
seen as were in the top 6 and have a better team i would say us ! and incase you didnt notice ipswich are in our league and we beat them by scoring 3 goals !
