Billy Jones is set to miss out on a dream Sunderland debut against his old club West Bromwich Albion. The right-back has been suffering from a hamstring strain that has kept him out of Sunderlandâs last two friendlies, and which will also keep him out of this afternoonâs final dress rehearsal against Udinese. And Black Cats boss Gus Poyet says it will be around another week before Jones returns to training, which means he will not be ready to face the Baggies at The Hawthorns on the opening day a week today. âI think it will take at least another week for him to train with us,â said Poyet, who snapped up the 27-year-old on a Bosman when the defenderâs contract with Albion expired this summer.
The irony. Too injured to play for them to injured to play against them. Lets hope Vergini had a stormer and its a good competition for Jones to get into the team.
If it is then I hope we got one in for Gardner. West Brom fans said he was always injured so really we should of seen this coming. looks like it's virgin boy at right back.
I've just read a tweet from him stating rumours of his missing the WBA game are misleading? He will train this week and have a fitness test Friday according to the player himself.
