A few months ago I said on here that my youngest son had an audition for Billy Elliott.

After the first audition he got a recall and we were then told that they liked him and would be contacting us at the beginning of the summer to assess him with the intention of him going to "Billy School" (evidently the training for the parts of Billy and Michael takes about a year. As my lad is only 10 and Billy is supposed to be 12, he has plenty of time.)

In the mean time we were contacted by the people from "Les Miserables" about my lad auditioning for the part of Gavroche in this show. (It's produced by the same people who my lad worked for in "Oliver")

On Tuesday they both contacted us saying that he had got the part in Les Mis, but was also asked to meet the people from Billy Elliott next Thursday for his assessment. "Bloody typical" was my first reaction as I thought that he would have to chose between the two. He has got the part in Les Mis but even if he goes to Billy School, there is no guarantee that he will develop well enough to actually get on the stage as Billy, but Billy is the one part that he is desperate to play.

Fortunately the people from Billy Elliott have agreed to assess him next year so that he can do Les Mis.

So, he starts rehearsals in 10 days time and will be appearing in the show from the end of June and everybody's happy.
