Slaven Bilic is set to be sacked by Watford after six months | Watford Observer The final roll of the managerial dice to try to make the play offs. Sadly, I saw it coming.
Not too surprised really. We have our fit players back, a bunch of new guys who have joined since January, and we still don't look like a cohesive team capable of challenging for 6th. However, even if I think Slaven should have done better with the players now at his disposal, I'm not convinced anyone else can do much better. We haven't looked like a team for years.
So will Wilder if it is him stay beyond the end of the season if we don't go up which is likely? Or just another stop gap.
In fairness to Gino, I think he doesn't just look at the raw results, he does consider the circumstances and the performances. So I think Wilder could stay if we don't make the playoffs if it looks like there's been an improvement in performance, and its just that we've run out of games. The playoffs themselves are a bit of a lottery, so if we make them, but don't go up, I would expect Wilder to stay. If we make the playoffs, we will have had a strong run-in, which Wilder will probably get credit for.
You do have to wonder if the players stopped playing for him because the difference between the Luton game and the last three home games is massive
Crazy. Just how does Wilder do better with given players? How is the standard of shooting going to suddenly improve. I’m at a loss to understand - I hope I’m proven wrong, but this seems like a dreadful error.
No doubt some will get injured! And as you say will we start scoring goals . Probably why Bilic got longer than some expected. Yes whilst Saturday was disappointing the previous 3 games weren’t bad really despite a defeat at Sheff U. What if Wilder gets off to a bad start .. Will he be under pressure ASAP? I cannot see dropped points at QPR and in 2 home games being accepted.
Greetings from France.....very peed off to see this... I fee l at the mo If I were to start supporting again Watford now would not be my team ...
That’s because you’re either in France or doing your missionary work in Yorkshire. I would have every faith you would make the right decision.
The ultimate ignominy in those two home games would be Deeney and Fletcher both scoring - and worse, if their goals were the winners. Support would melt away.
Forgot about that. To be honest, I had forgotten about him completely - probably the worst of our non-scoring goalscorers.
Still got 3 years left on his contract! I mean people might find the management situation very bizarre but we have played out there earning a wage but doing nothing for the club. No wonder we seem to be in a right old mess.
Most of our problems are solely down to recruitment of players because we do not pay out for the player we actually need Deeney was a one of in all respects because he only cost us £500k and that was after a review Every Head Coach since our first Pozzo promotion has had to try and get the best from an almost random group of players and all of them have decided THEIR formation and STYLE of play and not opted for what suits the players available, this is where Edwards failed with us and has succeeded with Luton
Bilic remaining tight lipped. Those gagging orders must be so watertight they could ahve kept the Titanic afloat.
Good opinion piece from Andrew French. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...der-arrives---supporting-watford-gets-harder/
I bet it's hard for him working in the media as he probably gets all these other press people giving him digs over the situation. I think the trouble is the owners etc and some fans expect instant results and the thought of us not even getting into the play-offs is too much to bare and of course only one person ever gets blamed. In reality all at the club need to take some responsibility but when the easy solution seems to be change the manager each time not sure they do. As we suddenly going to win loads of games in a row? Unlikely I feel. All I would say before all this happened there were a lot of people questioning Blic's future and even saying that he should be sacked because he cannot "coach the team and has no plans" I mean yes 18 managers or whatever is daft and not good for continuity but it's not like fans have been totally against each departure at all. Even remember when Munoz sacked some said it should have been done earlier in the summer so we could get a "proper manager" - that worked out well.... I think Pozzo or whoever just reacts straight away pretty much whereas most club owners try to hang onto their manager despite the pressure on them - see Spurs and Conte for example.
Could not agree more...I have been thinking most of this....... Does the present set up reflect my values... not in any way.......
It doesn't reflect my values either Yorkie, or those of most of us on here. From a neutral viewpoint I can't think of any reason to support them other than that I became addicted as a young boy.
