I’m sure I read on here someone went there recently. Going for a couple of days solo to catch a game and generally mooch about. Booked a short walking tour the morning of the game (Espanyol next Monday) but any recommendations appreciated.

Was there a couple of years ago it’s a great place. The stadium is superb and they are proper fans.

The Casco Viejo area (old town I think) is brilliant for bars and pintxos/basque tapas. Good food and drink at the market too. Both packed out with locals which is always a good sign. The Guggenheim museum is definitely worth a visit if you have even the slimmest interest in that sort of thing. The funicular to the top of the hill over the town gives great views but there is not much (except for a football pitch) at the top. The transporter bridge out of town is apparently one of its kind but I’m not an engineering buff myself.

I really like Bilbao, enjoy.

Cheers. Looks like the Guggenheim is closed Mondays so will have a look around Tuesday morning before coming back. Not really my thing but probably should. Couldn’t get a ticket in the ‘ultras’ bit but I’m just behind in the Upper Loft equivalent.

After long and sometimes challenging experimentation, I found ‘near’ rather than ‘in with’ the ultras to be the best place. Though the whole stadium rocks for Athletic.

Fab city.... if you're there on Saturday take the metro from Abanda station out to Santurtzi, about 40 minutes and head to the harbour area and a restaurant hogar de pescado where the fish is pulled off the trawlers and straight onto the oldest bbq you'll see.... usually full of locals, just follow the noise....you'll be the only tourist there....

Just Sunday-Tuesday after the Leicester game. What odds one of the Irish pubs will have Borehamwood v Carlisle on?
