Didn't see the game but not surprised we lost. I said after the United game I didn't think we'd win a PL game until January and stand by it. Nothing is lost yet but could be. Lack of rotation and RDM's inexperience is costing us. What he sees in Luiz I will never know but he's been dealt a crap hand. To have your hopes rested on two quite frankly laughable strikers is unacceptable and wouldn't happen at a club with more competent people than Gourlay. This week is massive. We've entered a slump now there's no doubt about it. Lose to Juve and were out the CL IMO, lose to City and were out the title race. Both will see RDM sacked be it now or in May. That can't happen. RDM was never my choice but he is Chelsea through and through and done more than enough to earn time here. There's no doubt Clattenburg has ruined our season but its time we remember who we are. This is a massive club and were European Champions. Drop that clown Luiz, play our best CB's and let's freshen things up a bit and use the squad. Lets get Marin involved and Azpilicueta have a run in the side. No shame in losing to WBA who are an excellent side but this side is underachieving for what we have, there is no doubt about that. I'm not confident but onwards and upwards.
Agree with the general consensus DL but we honestly weren't as bad as scoreline suggests today. Defensive frailties are costing us and as you say, lack of rotation causes players like Moses and Romeu to be under pressure when eventually played. Missing JT badly but in the meantime we should be playing Azpi and Ivan in the middle. Disagree that if we lose on Tuesday we're out though, we have Nords at home on the 5th whilst Juve and Shakhtar play each other AT Shakhtar which to me is a Shakhtar win or draw. Letting Essien and Meireles go was a massive mistake too, without Ramires or Mikel we're ****ed in midfield.
**** me we're back to that old chestnut are we. How about we wouldn't have Mata,Oscar and Hazard if it wasn't for Gourlay. Oh no that's right he has nothing to do with the good stuff but is totally to blame for the bad. You sound more like a scouser everyday with you blame shifting game.
Gourlay is a ****, you are literally the only fan I've spoken to who doesn't think so. Climb out his arse you plum.
Always suspected that we had a soft underbelly - our relative easy fixture list at the start of the campaign only served to paper over the cracks: one being a limp-wristed attack and the other being a defence that does a good impression of a colander. We were sucked in by the hype of being a creative, exciting and entertaining side (against lame opposition). RA decided to go with revolution instead of evolution and as a consequence we have left ourselves woefully short of options. Don't see our fortunes changing rapidly in the short term....time to hunker down until the storm passes (storm being Juve & City)
The absence of Terry will cost us dear! We just dont have anyone in the side capable of driving the the bus apart from JT. Lamps coming back would help a bit, but for all the skills and artistry we're displaying, we have lost the killer instinct that JT provides!
Think Cahill and Ivan need to be taking on a bit more responsibility Luiz does seem to play better when we play in Europe though, so maybe he should have been rested today and let Brana and Cahill play, Cole definitely should have played As for targets, Falcao is the obvious, but we will obviously be linked with Schurlle again, Cavani again and numerous other over priced stars. Just wish Schalke werent playing Champo League because Huntelaar is just the player we could do with until the summer EDIT: Maybe its time a certain CB was recalled from his impressive performances for Vitesse
Hazard was always on the cards anyway. I can blame Gourlay especially when I know for a fact he had the whole of July/August to sign a striker and waited till the last minute only for the paperwork to fall through. Wake up and smell the coffee. WBA today without Lukaku had 3 different options. If you think it's acceptable to go into a 65+ game season, travelling from Ukraine to Japan with just Torres (poor striker) and Sturridge (unproven striker) and only having Ramires and Mikel in midfield (Romeu unproven) with the likes of Essien and Lukaku on loan you've lost it. I can only assume your a relative of Gourlay's because from where I'm sat to have no depth in midfield AND striking areas is borderline criminal.
Benayoun on 95k a week and on loan to West Ham whilst we subsidise most of his wages but of course that isn't genius St. Gourlay's fault
Of course, but I think our chances were very slim regardless of form this Tuesday. We need to drop Torres and Luiz to stand any chance - Luiz especially! Precisely. I thought Emenalo was responsible for all these remarkable transfers anyway All the Fat Controller does is sanction deals and hold responsibility for the money, to applaud him for the signings we've made recently is ****ing ludicrous.
But yet Gourlay will be the first whispering RA's ear to get RDM the sack when things really go tits up. Ancelotti was the fall guy for the squad thinning experiment 2 years ago and now RDM will be now.
Handles the press abysmally too, he reminds me of a college teacher I had once, timid jock accent with no ****ing clue.
Was at the game yesterday and tbh... we absolutely dominated. Especially in that second half. We weren't s bad as when we lost there last season. Anyway watching the highlights last night it is clear to see that we need a new striker. To have Torres and Sturridge just isn't good enough! Torres was invisible yesterday and Sturridge missed some golden chance which had he scored, we would have won. But it's not also the attack. In defence, it seems like Luiz hasn't a clue. He was responsible imo for both goals yesterday. For the first one he loses Long with ease! It was a joke. For the second one he decides to go out and close down Long instead of Bertrand leaving Bertie to defend in the middle against Odemwingie. Goal. Ivan and Cahill at centre back for the future. Also I don't know why RDM thought it right to rest some key players yesterday in what was probably one of our toughest games as of yet. I blame these farking international friendlies. Travelling across the world for a nonsense game... This is a big week and tbh January can't come soon enough. If we signed Fellaini and Falcao in January then we would be sorted (plus maybe another backup striker and centre back).
Same. I have time for Buck who to be fair has done a good job but Gourlay is a joke. I winced a little when Kenyon left but never imagined his replacement would be this bad
I don't think I've ever expressed an opinion on him actually. What I have expressed is how ****ing sad it is to blame him for the bad stuff but give him no credit for the good stuff. It's almost childlike with no reasoning behind it other than finding someone to blame. Toys and pram syndrome.
Boooohoooo lets blame someone other than where the fault for today actually lies and that is with RDM for making too many changes.
Oscar Mata Hazard are therefore his successes along with Azpi and all the success we've had including winning the CL. See how that works? You really are child like picking out only the bad stuff to throw at him. Oh and we've finally made a profit and will easily pass ffp well in to the future with all the new deals but hey, let's give the credit for that to ....errrrr who?
Very similar to our game at the hawthorns a couple of weeks ago.You are always in danger of conceding goals to teams like WBA if you are looking for 3 points,it happens but the difference in being able to bring quality like Dzeko off the bench as a game changer makes all the difference. Looks like time to cut your losses on Torres and spend wisely in January. Sturridge could be top class if he ever thought of the team rather than himself,I've never seen a more self centred player. Looking forward to coming to the bridge next Sunday, first time we've taken up the full allocation as long as I can remember, you can't afford to lose that one
