I remember last July when we were signing all the has beens or no hopers there were a lot of doubters on the 606 board who thought we had one to many old pals acts that warnock seemed to be dishing out. Now in your eyes which of the following signings surpassed your expectations on what they delivered. I've been trying to think about this one and it is quite a toughie. Paddy Kenny ( player of the year on two counts ) Clint hill ( played over 40 games ) Jamie Mackie ( whose goal scoring at the start of the season opened up our 10 point gap that was never overhauled really ) Shaun derry ( irreplacable in Centre midfield and our true captain ). I won't include tarbs, Orr, Smith or Hulse as most thought they would add some quality when we signed them. Whose your choice? Mine is Derry , i never rated him before this season and thought he would get over run , how wrong was I (but can admit it!).
yeah hulse did not produce and Clarke was a bit of a faliure but not much of a gamble as he was on a short term contract and a freebee.
Ditto Northolt but particularly Derry for same reasons as W9 - with the additional factor relating to how he managed to remain totally effective with a ban for the next booking hanging over his head to at least two months - and still not missing a game... absolutely amazing! Has to be said, the old pals act sure works out sometimes!
