For all Poyet's tactics/formations are difficult to understand what do you do when 3 loan players decide to stop trying - Ki, Borini and Alonso. Ki and Borini have been our best players until the Cup Final and now they are a waste of a jersey - Ki, in particular has been disgraceful. Personally, I'd send all 3 back tomorrow.
Borini ran his arse off all game and as for Ki, as for all the midfield for that matter, we couldn't get our foot on the ball. Spurs pressed quickly and high up the pitch, they're a much better team. We just couldn't cope. Fact is Spurs first two goals came as a result of our most experienced defender switching off and losing his man as a result of deep deliveries that Premiership Defenders should be able to deal with all day long. Defending deep crosses is a basic and should favour the defender.
I think some players genuinely don't give a toss and it's costing us. If all the players were playing to their full potential Gus wouldn't need to be tinkering with the formation. This squad is ****
Just piss poor. No one closes the ball, too many are still hacking it long from the back and we have nobody to change a game apart from Johnson, who's a ghost when he starts. We'll be down to the absolute bare bones of a squad in the summer.... Bad times.... Phoenix from the flames time!

Mannone was too static and could/should have gone for the first cross if just to put the runners in off.
No he didn't, He allowed his man to go round the back of him and get goal side twice. It's not Mannon's responsibility, they were deep crosses, dealing with these should be basic bread and butter defending. Mannone should have got this? Aye righto mate. please log in to view this image You can see why Vito kept to his line here as Bridcutt was close to the cross so a deflection was possible. Notice how Brown allowed his men to go around the back to get goal side of him again. please log in to view this image
It was bad defending from Brown, no question. He should have cleared bo those crosses, but we should have been closer to the player to stop the ball from coming in. Even then, 1st goal was handball, 3rd and 4th were deflection and miles offside. Just the kind of goals you concede when you're mentally gone.
