Building up to the season, I have been slating Wanyama. I believe he owes us a big season after last years over hyped signing of him. I thought he was OK at best but certainly not worth the £12m we paid for him.
Watching him yesterday, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The boy was magnificent - man of the match by miles. Bar the poor header leading to Liverpool's second spunky goal, he was an absolute beast.
Now, my only worry is this a typical Wanyama performance, just doing it in the big games or is he ready to repay some of that big transfer fee.

Wanyama was superb at times last season, not surprised at all at his performance. And "he just does it in the big games" is utter crap.

Awesome yesterday but it was his sort of game with Liverpool pressing on occasions. The test will be at home when we have possession and time on the ball - I'm expecting to see improved distribution.

I'm not a huge fan, but he was brilliant yesterday.

Vic was brilliant yesterday, but this is nothing new. He was brilliant last season until he broke his leg, and never really got back to his best after that. Our results dropped off as soon as he was injured, proving how integral he was to our defence. Yesterday showed he has made a full recovery and is raring to go again.

Thought that was his best game, in a Saints shirt.
Not going to slate him, about the header leading to the goal, because Schneiderlin could and should have done more to get across to it. He just seemed to watch it balloon into the air, before reacting too late.
Davis might have been able to do more, but he was behing Sterling, and was second favourite to get to the ball, without barging through him.

The most apparent thing about Vic for me yesterday where how much lighter and quicker his feet were. He didn't panic in possession, sometimes skipping past a tackle before releasing the ball, a great way to take an opposing midfielder out of the game. There were also a few gorgeous chipped passes out to the wings that looked precise and measured. He was excellent.

Really, his ability on the ball was all that let him down last year. Maybe a case of adjusting to being pressed effectively more than in Scotland.

I think most people (myself included) were tipping him to be fantastic this season. He's an outstanding midfielder.

Think he likes the bigger piches where he has more time on the ball. Bet he also prefers playing away so he doesn't get as many groans when he gets on the ball!

I have loved Wanyama since day one. Still can't understand why anyone would fail to see his essential importance to our all too nice and light-weight team. He is the guts behind all the pretty football.

He is only young with massive potential - many fans appeared unimpressed last season which was disappointing considering how his appearances aligned with our best form

I think he will be our stand out player this season. He has always had an important role in the team but so often last term his distribution and decision making let him down, really enjoyed watching him on Sunday?

I, at the time blamed Spider for the 2nd goal, now I realise that the guy had run himself into the ground and was physically and mentally shot, he of course hadn't benefitted from the build up the other players had gone through, and the although I thought he would not be ready for the game, I didn't see any sign of that, I reckon he must have covered a lot of ground, but haven't seen any stats.

Someone else posted that Spider ran 7.7 miles, more than half a mile more than any other player. Not bad for someone not involved in preseason!
