You're talking complete rubbish. Doing The Lambert Walk and fatletiss seem to have summed things up nicely already for you.
This is just my opinion everybody has there own, I don't think GULY pulled his weight many times in the last few seasons. I said I wasn't going to say a bad word as I haven't seen him much this season I.e away to spurs. He probably did do well and had a good game but you can't call somebody a great player from one good performance.
Think most would say Guly was a good player rather than a great one. Every team has some players who won't start every game, but can step in when needed. Mauricio seems to rate Guly in that role. the shame for Guly is that he is unlikely to play much in the forward role he favours.
I have been trying to keep out of the Guly saga to be honest. However I find it difficult to say nowt when someone is running down a player like Guly. It has been said that he didn't contribute much during the Championship campaign. He has played 67 times for Saints and scored 19 goals. That is as near as dammit one goal in 3. Bearing in mind some of those appearances were only for about 10/15 minutes, that is not too bad a scoring record. In truth he has not had that many chances to play his natural attacking style as he has in the main been used as a provider rather than a go getter. You also have to accept that the style of play we were playing was a lot different in his early days although accepted the opposition wasn't so great either. When the style of play began to change it was noticeable that the way they used Guly changed. To be honest I think that is where he falls down a bit. He was too used to playing the slow build up with players laying off you rather than getting stuck into you as you get in the lower divisions. He adjusted to that to a point and then had to change back again when we entered the premiership but it is true he could not find his rhythm and has been struggling. To say he is not a great player would be accurate...but to say he is a poor player would be very naive in my view.
Guly was great in his first season at Saints in League 1 and he was great in the first half of our sole season in the Championship. However, the fact that his last goal came in January 2012 sums it up for me - he's been non existant since.
If Guly is not very good why is it that the fans of other clubs have often sung his praises (and before anybody thinks so, not ironically)?
I know that on occasions he has made the odd error but he is talented and if anyone suggests his work rate is poor then I can recommend a very good optician.

This is something you never say on this board as far too many posters have played the game (some to a good standard) and understand just how good Guly is.
In the main it is the ball followers who moan about Guly.
How Guly divides opinion!
In my view his contributions are seldom indifferent. Some of us, who are not ball followers, have seen him perform wretchedly, (Doncaster away last season springs to mind) and on occasion change a game for the better, (Millwall away last season). There is no doubt that his body language suggests a certain lethargy that can be interpreted as not putting in a full shift but the same arguments can be made against Berbatov or MLT. In my view Guly is not premier league class when we haven't got the ball and is average at best when we have, yet he does have game changing abilities. If he stays he will warm a lot of benches..

I haven't seen any recent figures, but I know that stats from the Championship year (how nice that sounds) reveal that he is a deceptive dynamo with regards to ground covered and pace. He just appears languid.
Think that sums it up Fran. He looks like he's not bothered when actually he has a terrific work rate!
Guly is fine as a squad player, and a decent option from the bench. He obviously has ability because he's one of only a few players to have played regularly for us from League One to now and he's not lazy, but I don't think anyone really believes he will be (or deserves to be) a regular starter ever again.
Stoke away. He played very well but will be remembered in that game for the miss from J-Rod's deflected shot (which bounced awkwardly and he had to hit on his left foot). He hasn't had many starts and as said above has been played out of position. He still has a role as a squad player unless we bring in 2 creative attacking mids. Which we won't do.
