I make it 15 players to go this summer: Dean Hammond Guly do Prado Frazer Richardson Danny Seaborne Ben Reeves Danny Butterfield Steve De Ridder Ryan Dickson Aaron Martin Lee Barnard Jonathan Forte Tadanari Lee Danny Fox Billy Sharp Richard Chaplow It will be sad to say goodbye to some of these players as they've been on this journey for a long time. Some have experienced the Pardew 'winning mentality' and some have been onboard the Adkins bus. However, the club has to move on and all of these players will probably be surplus to requirements next season. Does anybody agree/disagree? Would you keep any of these players or would you add anymore to the list?
I agree that Guly will stay, forget his lack of goals or whatever gets your goat about him, he's a good squad player who can hold the ball well.
As they haven't had a look in this season, I agree with all but Guly. Mauricio has used him and I think he will only leave if he requests it.
It'll be sad to see any of them go. They may have got off the bus, with their winning mentalities intact, but in a short few weeks they'll have it confirmed to them that they are no longer part of that promised dream, and I know how much that will hurt, even if it was inevitable. Best wishes to every one of them for playing their parts, however minor. I think Calum Chambers might stick around though.
Someone should definitely run a Guly-Sharp front line in the Championship next season. If we sign another centre back I can see Fonte (probably) or Hooiveld leaving. Chambers is only 18 and seems to be doing ok so don't know why he is in there. Apart from that think it's about right.
I agree with all but Guly, Fox and Chambers. Guly could still have a bit-part role to play. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Fox stayed just as cover. I'm surprised you put Chambers in the list, he's only 18, and has been played for England Under-18s this year. He's still got a few years on the likes of Reeves, Hoskins and Isgrove.
Guly is much better centrally and I think that's why he's struggled this season to make an impact anything like the first half of last season. He became much less effective last season when Adkins started only playing him at right midfield. He's done a decent enough job when he's played LM or RM though.
I like Guly but I don't rate him at Premier League level at all. The times i've seen him this season, he's been lazy and given the ball away far too easily. He's brilliant against poor lower league sides but against Premier League opposition, he sticks out like a sore thumb.
Chambers won't be going anywhere ... he's been promoted to the first team, named on the first team bench and has a long-term contract in place. The rest, bar Fox, I agree with. I say bar Fox because we're just waiting for Targett to break through imo
Chambers certainly won't be leaving, he's one of only a couple of players from this generation of the academy that could sneak into the first team.
