We have always struggled to deal with them, even if they are ****e we cannot deal with big strikers. Zigic scored 4 'easy' goals from the sounds of things and we have always struggled with them because our CBs don't fully understand how to deal with them.

I've thought for a while now that if I was a manager of any team playing against leeds I'd just centre the team around a big striker. Its ****ing annoying

    4 shots 4 goals

    Becchio 10 shots no goals

    That's the difference

No-one struggled with Zigic - they simply weren't close enough to him to trouble him

Because O'Dear is ****ing **** and we need to replace him. Why he is still anywhere near that first team puzzles me

And YWBK, it doesnt surprise me, Becchio's not that good

Remember big Sam Parkin for Preston last season? We couldn't cope with him either. What the **** is it with us.

I've always said we should get a big, commanding ****er at centre-back - someone who's actually captain material. We were made fools of by this man-tree-thing, and Lees, O'Dea, Bruce, O'Brien and Bromby simply aren't dominant enough. Once again our lack of spending has led to weaknesses. Should also be noted that we didn't stop Zigic's supply routes well enough either. Makes me wonder if we should do a formation which looks like this so we have more midfield cover:

    Lonergan

    White - O'Dea - Lees - Smith

    Pugh

    Delph - Clayton

    Townsend - - - - - - - - Snodgrass

    Becchio

4-4-2 is ****. 4-2-3-1 doesn't work without Howson because Nunez is frail. We need to mix things up.

Leeds-18, 4-4-2 does work. its the traditional formation because it works. Whether it be we do not have the right players for it or whether it be the manager cannot work with it is up to you (personally i think by this point you NEED to look at the manager)

With the line-up your suggesting (im going to assume you wanna swap your wide men around, snoddy on the right with townsend on the left and smith on the right with white on the left) I think we will lose our creativity somewhat

Traditional in the sense of past it, maybe. It's not the norm in this division any more, and it's not the norm in top-level football any more. We have a central midfield with some decent players for once, and one layer with two of them in is far too penetrable. Pugh sitting in front of the defence would allow Delph and Clayton the freedom they need to go and create and take chances further up the field. That would add creativity, not stifle it.

Two strikers is predictable and not working. If we are going down that route, I'd rather have Paynter back because I think he works better with McCormack than Becchio does. I'd rather see more input from wingers and midfielders like we saw last season when we looked a lot more intelligent as a unit. Then again, selling Gradel and Howson has ****ed our midfield goalscoring up quite spectacularly, so it's going to take some effort to refind it.

I've always said i dont think Becchio works well with another striker which is the issue that i think grayson has, he wants to play becchio so maybe a lone striker does work better however the issue i have with it is:

We win the ball in defence, we have limited time to clear it so we hoof it up the field, Becchio would try to get there but most likely it goes to one of there defenders which they then get the time to pass it around and retain possession because there is only one player closing them down, so we get more pressure on us again. That happened all of the time last season and for me was the reason the defense was so bad because it was constant pressure and the only time it was off was when we passed the ball out of defence which isn't always easy to do effectively

A deep-sitting Pugh would help the defence to find a short pass instead of hoofing. And Becchio was brilliant as a lone striker last season, doesn't need someone else to do the work for him. It's just that he's turned into Keogh this season and been useless.

<laugh> im not gonna respond on your little dig at keogh but I kinda do see where you are coming from with the deep lying Pugh and even if pugh got injured we have brown who can step in (i suppose). The hoof ball will still happen though and the team need to be trained differently to the way they were last season if the defence is to be able to hold out though

i always feel that if you play 442 you will struggle against a team that have any different formation to 442. 442 used to work because generally everyone played this system. the times are changing. a 4231 or 4321 would suit us better. and thats numberwang

Both our centre backs where concentrating more on pushing Zigic than heading the ball,

Zigic is not a good footballer but he knows where the nett is from 5 yards out!

Tom Lees or Odea should of got stuck in and give him a few niggles and scare the donkey out of the game

As for Zac Thompson marking him on corners WTF is that all about

YWBK, it was my understanding that our full backs were not stopping the crosses well enough. A guy like that you need to stop the delivery to him because you will not beat him in the air

Too true full backs where awful but chris burke was quality 2 of the goals came from crosses which shouldve been stopped.

    Ristac,
I wasnt talking about the teams I was talking about individuals, Zigic 4 shots 4 goals becchio had about 10 shots 0 goals.

Were Becchio's glaring misses or decent saves etc? Not sticking up for him just curious, either way if he had scored a hat trck we would have still only managed a draw - shocking
