Hello, My first thread so I thought I'd post somthing a bit more uplifting to counter the frustration us long suffering QPR fans get from time to time. Firstly I really do hope we win tomorrow. I know the football has been frustrating at times for a lot on here but we are still in a good position going into the new year. My gut feeling is 2 nil to the Rsss. A win would be just the tonic for this forum. Now I would also like to thank our mods Roller and Ninesy, Cheers, you are both doing a smashing job and the recent wumming and bad results must have made your Christmas a little bit more hard work than expected. Keep up the good work it's much appreciated. I have been reading this forum from the start when Northolt was getting things up and running, I though I'd finally join as there are some really sound posters on here and some good banter. My current football opinion is that I'm not sure going straight back up would be a good thing. I do want us to return to the prem but if we go up this season I'm dreading it will be hell like the last time. Maybe we are just not ready yet. Whatever happens we will still have a club to support next year regardless of what happens and I'm also sure Uncle Tony will still be backing us, not to everyone's liking I know but I'll be happy. Anyway I know it's early but a big happy new year to all the QPR brothers and sisters. I will be taking my bro to a game late Jan early Feb so I will pop in the Crown and introduce myself. I'll just need to decide which game 1st. U RSSSS
Some good points there Rsss. I agree that going straight back up is fraught with danger and we could find ourselves in a similar situation as before with big personnel changes yet again. I really think just agreeing to take two to three years to get a decent structure into the club would be a more beneficial way of moving forward rather than signing players past their sell-by date who are proving less than inspiring. The January window will tell us a lot about how we tackle this conundrum...
Good post/read, but going up is ALL that matters. We must ply our trade in the Prem, otherwise we are going nowhere.
It is only right and proper that the mods receive acknowledgement for what can be a thankless job. Well done and fair dues guys.
As much as I want to see QPR back in the premiershipship, there is always something is getting in loan players from clubs in that division, that cannot get in their first teams. We have been fortunate to have had Walker, and Townsend for example come and prove their worth to us, and their proper club and use it as a stepping stone to improve their careers. Our last visit to the premiership we bought players that only wanted cold hard cash and appear not to want to do anything to earn it or even wear our hooped shorts with pride. Maybe we will have learnt our lessons - only time will tell
That's a good call Inked. Would love to meet some of the Ireland Rangers. I have a link as my Nan was from Cork City but she had nothing to do with how I became QPR. I'm treating my brother and paying for his train, match ticket, lots of beer and a portion of chips. He works all sorts of odd shifts, if he can make this game I will let you know when I manage to get tickets. Well I hope it's a treat for him depending on the outcome. Never the less it will be great to share a few beers with ya all.
We don't seem to have any players like Lee Cook, or Bircham in the hoops these days. I don't mean that for there football skills but more as players who really do put a shift in plus have played a few seasons in the hoops and play for the badge. We do need young blood and less loans to be more of a team. Maybe we will get a few years of being a yo-yo club before we can all start whinging about prem mid table mediocrity. Who knows.
I'll definitely second that motion - Roller & Nines perform a tremendous and admirable job here keeping our board on an even keel, through thick and thin. I find it rather annoying when a few of our fellow posters deliberately test the limits of worthy debate causing our mods to interject. I had the great opportunity to meet both Roller & Nines at the C&S before the Charlton match, and along with many others here, who I also met for the first time, they are extremely nice and genuine people.
rrs, send finglas a pm. we always try to get our seats together. last time was in the school end. we were right behind the goal for Charlie's screamer vs charlton. that was a good day!
