Michel Bastos' agent has confirmed a number of European clubs have declared an interest in the Brazillian. You can find the article with the quotes here. (Sky Sports News) What gets me is this part.. "All of them are big clubs (Believed to be Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus) and, indeed, two of them called me to find out if the player would be interested and to possibly speak to him about their project." The word "project", Liverpool have constantly talked about the "project" rebuilding process we are currently undertaking, could it be that Liverpool are really interested with him? I think there is a chance. Thoughts?
Every club mentioned is currently on a project ofsorts... wehter is barca's complete domination of club football or Tottenhams project to get in and about the top 4 again. On saying that I would like him to join Liverpool
Bozz. Liverpool are the ones with the project, they are aiming to get back to their 2009 level as soon as possible.
He's the same age as Downing, so we do have the same age issue. Although, I do rate him higher than Downing and he would be a marquee signing of sorts. Not to mention he's cheaper, and isn't a regular for Brazil so we don't have the issue with match fitness after summer. I would still like Mata though, it doesn't seem too likely we'll get him but I can always hope.
Now Bastos and Cissoko would be brilliant. Considering Villa are asking over 15M for Downing and yet if you add 5M on top we could have the Lyon left wing playing for us. Bastos has a brilliant left peg on him and if you have seen some of the free kicks he has scored you will know what I am talking about.
Agreed, as much as KK might want Downing, if anyone was offered Lyon's left side for the same price you have to take Lyon's offer. I think we should sign Bastos/Downing + Cissokho + Mata. That will all but finish off our transfer activity.
IF we got Bastos that is a lot of options for people taking set pieces, be it corners, free kicks etc. Something we have not had for a while I feel. More precision I think in Suarez, a mix in Adam, and a Thunderbolt ( a la Riise) in Bastos.
on the project quote , i think you'll find every team in the world has a project. be it staying up, finishing mid table, qualifying for europa/cl, winning the lge
Liverpool have their overall project that may take a bit of time to implement...Its called destroy Manchester United and Alex Ferguson.
It is,Its destroying Manchester United and sending them back where they belong and delivering Fergusons head on a plate so it can be drop kicked into the KOP.The Florida Liverpool supporters club sent in Agent M Glazer to complete mission bankrupt Manchester United. He has 6 years to finish the job.He should be done by 2017.
No problem sir. Whoever wrote the article must be confused. The only thing big about Tottenham Hotspur is the amount of letters in their name.
I think they would be after him if clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool are after him. They need some players to push them back into the top four. If they don't get there, the players who experienced it with Spurs will think they automatically deserve it, if not at Spurs, they may go elsewhere. [Harry] Redknapp knows he needs to strengthen the squad.
Yes because we knew going into last season the team that finished 7th the season before would be our major threats to the title...and so it nearly proved..
If you or any English club can get him I only see it as a good thing for that club. I think he is a quality player.
