http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...k-leaves-BBC/story-21457585-detail/story.html FORMER Hull FC and Hull KR player Craig Murdock has left his role as a BBC rugby league commentator because of a 'conflict of interest' with his work as a player agent. Mr Murdock, who heads up the UK operation of sports management company MAP Sports, said in a statement it was not his decision to leave his position commentating for Radio Humberside. In the statement, which was posted on Twitter on Saturday, he wrote: "After ten years, I'm really sad that this was my last game for the BBC. I've had a great time following both Hull clubs around the country. "It's not my decision to leave, I've been informed that the growth of MAP Sports has caused a conflict of interest. "I wish the rugby league teams all the best. Life goes on onwards and upwards!!" In a second statement, posted on Sunday morning, Mr Murdock said: "I'd just like to thank everyone for their support. I didn't expect such mass hysteria over local radio. "It's really humbling for me that so many people are in my corner and enjoyed what I did as much as I did. I only wanted to say goodbye and I've done that now. "So we move on and I wish the person who comes in all the best. Let's put this to bed now and get behind the real issue of getting FC and KR to the top end of Super League. Thanks again. Doc." Mr Murdock joined MAP Sports last year. In a statement, the BBC said: "We can confirm that Craig Murdock will be leaving Radio Humberside's Rugby League commentating team due to a conflict with his commercial interests. "We thank Craig for his 10 years great service with the station and wish him all the best for the future. Just who will they get for those brilliant discussions on a Friday night. Lee Radford should be available soon. Gollum "So Hull City are in the QF/ Semi Final/ FA Cup Final and our special guest Craig Murdock will be offering his opinon in an extra special show!! Craig: Well I'm not into football but i wish them luck. FC are looking good in their pre season training....
Not forgetting the "rugby is my game of course but I always followed Liverpool's fortunes..." and his ability to turn anything back to rugby no matter how tenuous the connection.
I thought he was pretty good he was a rugby league pundit but always wanted city to do well when ever i heard him on the radio
On Sportstalk he was a guest on a programme where people phoned in about many sports but he always brought it back to or compared it to rugby league. He wasn't on Sportstalk as a rugby league pundit.
Because he was the main guest on the programme, the same as when there's a Hull City, Grimsby Town or Scunthorpe United guest on they'll get asked for their opinions on a variety of sports including rugby league. It's a shame he's gone, he was by far the best rugby league pundit on there and was the only one who would back FC over Rovers.
^^^ This There are no local pundits that know all sports well, Burnsy and Swanny are useless when it comes to RL, big deal it's not their area of expertise.
Doc Murdock and his obsession with RL, Lloyd's amateurism, the massive RL biased, and general fence sitting on all the big issue's and all helped in the demise of Sportstalk. Sad but true.
I really like Mike White, he clearly does his research before he conducts an interview - whether it's with Steve Bruce, Lee Radford, Billy Heath or Sylvain Cloutier (last year anyway), which means he can ask relevant questions and have a conversation. Burnsy is really good for City stuff but terrible for any of the other teams and Gwilym should be nowhere near a job at the BBC. I was once there when he was recording an interview with Gareth Ellis (FC's captain, England international and one the best player in the world in his position). His phone rung during the interview, and he then answered it! Total lack of professionalism and respect for the intervewee.
I'm really not, its just the point has been done to death and is becoming tedious. Don't like it, don't listen, that's the solution.
Mike White seems OK. He emailed me to apologise the points I had raised in my email were not discussed properly and that he agreed with me. No prizes for guessing which clown was responsible for diverting the discussion on to rugby.
i haven't listened to a single radio humberside broadcast since we played plymouth away probably in the championship i'd rather read a thread of 500 maccas post than even contemplate even considering rugby
