Listening to them now as a blast from the past.. Met Stuart the lead everything in the band and I can honestly say he was one of the soundest lads Iv'e ever met. Died a few years back but the music is never forgotten.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2IY29Muc-o
He had trouble with alcoholism I think and killed himself, maybe there is a clue in the lyrics. I have heard many people say he was a lovely bloke as well.
Liver failure I was told mate. A gem of a man in every way who would help anyone.. A short life but the right ethics in regards to human feeling don't you think? Very lost in the head obviously but then again maybe we all are..hic
Lots of reports on the net say suicide in dec 2001 mate. He had problems with alcohol had been teetotal for years but when he resumed drinking he killed himself. Very sad.
Thanks for that Joe. I still have their albums on vinyl & play them at least once a year. One of my favorite all time bands with my favorite two albums being "The Crossing" & "Peace in our Time" I had to look the dates up but................"Stuart Adamson's was found dead in a room at the Best Western Plaza Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii on 16 December 2001. The autopsy revealed that he had hanged himself". Ps: They reformed in 2007 for a 25th Anniversary Reunion & toured the UK last year. Lucky bastard lol Not one for INXS personally & always knew from a friend that Hutchence was a prize twat (mates sister went international as a solo) - SORRY Do you know of the Aussie / Kiwi bands of the eighties ? I can give you names to You Tube & albums of hits to download to get a cross section. Australian Crawl was my favorite form across the ditch, bur just remember as NZ being very small many didn't get off shore but the music was hot. Some managed to croos over to Sydney but most just faded away or merged into new ones.
Big Country.....one of the best bands ever....saw them live....one of the best gigs I've ever went to
Great Band that formed out of the ashes of a great Band The Skids both seen as a couple of the best Scottish bands ever.
Saw Big Country a couple of times as support on big gigs - think they were supporting Queen at Knebworth However best time I saw Big Country was in the Coatham Bowl in Redcar, small intimate venue - they rocked
