Newcastle come back from 4-0 down against Arsenal, Swansea come back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 away to Boro - I'm sure the mighty Tigers have had one or two in thier time - anyone remember any? But why is it that we never seem to be able to build a team that gives supporters any confidence that even a relatively small come back is remotely likely? Any thoughts?

First half against West Ham in the Prem, 2-0 down after 12 or so minutes then 3-2 up at half time? would have been more impressive if it didn't end 3-3

    how about:

November 1984, 1-4 down away at Orient. Came back to win 5-4.

    or:

Boxing day, 1970, 0-4 down at home to Sheff Weds. Came back to make it 4-4 if memory serves.

I remember that boxing day game but thought it was 3-0 down to come to 3-3 (and thought it was against Huddersfield!). All our goals were scored in the last 20 mins or so (?) - I had to walk to Inglemire Lane to go to my Auntie's for tea so left early - the only time I ever did - could hear the cheers as I was walking down the road - ran to get back to get the score on TV!

I might be wrong Oregon but I don't think City were 4-0 down it was 1-4 at its worse.

Remember the Orient game at Brisbane Rd. We were losing 4-1 with about 25mins to go. McEwan scored at pen to make it 4-4 with a few mins left and I think Flounders or Massey scored the very late winner in front of the delerious City fans.

Yeah think you're right about Whitehurst hat-trick in home game. Also McEwan scored from a free-kick from about 30yards - trademark netbuster from Stanley!!!

The City fans were stood behind the goal we were attacking. We had such a good team in those days that I remember thinking we were still in it even though we were 4-1 down. None of the City fans had seemed to have given up and the players certainly had'nt. Some of the Happiest days following City 1982 - 1987!

as a kid who left five 10 minutes from the end on Boxing Day 1970 when we were losing 1 - 4, the only two matches I have left early since were at Huddersfield one miserable Sunday during Peter Taylor's shared reign with England under 21 and also at Colchester's Layer Road for the return of Phil Parkinson a few years ago. I seem to remember Chris Chilton got a hatrick in 1970 that day?

Was it Southend at home in 03 when we were 2-1 down then scored 2 in the last 5 mins to win it 3-2? I think one was a Michael Keane penalty?

On the other side of the coin. 1997 v Torquay at BP.I'm sure we were 3-0 up with 5 minutes to go and ended up drawing 3-3.

    Thems the days.

There really was only one special one seen by me. Chelsea v Hull 1966ish. Hull were 2 goals down until the last couple of minutes then Ken Wagstaff scored twice to give us a 2 - 2 draw,

That was MK Dons. Michael Keane and Stuart Green scored late goals but I don't think one was a penalty.

In fact if I remember rightly, Boaz might have saved a penalty at the other end just before we scored the late goals.
