Following on from his incredible performance in the Carling Cup Final last Sunday and assuming Chris Coleman gets clarification of his eligibility to play for our national team,Turner has to be a shoe in alongside Darcy in the Mexico friendly in May.His stature and confidence will give the Welsh camp a new element at the back that it has lacked for far too long. Selfishly I'm glad he's not available for tomorrows game as he needs the rest and recuperation time to focus on the yammers game on Sunday.
Good news with Ralls called into the England U19 squad and hopefully Darcy and Earnie will get some game time. Could do with Miller, Cowie, Kiss and Gunnar puting their feet up though! http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2626633,00.html Sorry ITIWRAN, just realised I didn't comment on your post. I agree, though a few of the Swans may balk at Turner and Darcy!
please log in to view this image He's proved he's good enough and if CC does eventually select him, his club should be irrelevant. He'll be representing Wales....same as Williams, Taylor and Allen.
Agreed H. Turner will put his body on the line for this country and clearly enjoys the big occassions.
the initiative must come from the player himself. i read in the telegraph yesterday that he was 'the only welshman who started for cardiff', i expect better than that... is he better than collins and williams, the probable current first choice partnership? probably not. but he's a fine player who is capable of playing at a higher level, and would be an asset to the team no doubt. he's at a good age (23) and left nothing on the pitch on sunday. i also notice he plays on the left of the centre back pairing, that is also something in his favour.
"Chris Coleman wants to recruit Cardiff defender Ben Turner for Wales. Coleman managed Turner during his time at Coventry and is aware the centre-half has a Welsh grandparent...and the 23-year-old's performance in Sunday's Carling Cup final marked him out as an international in the making, according to the Wales boss." http://m.skysports.com/article/football/7554125 also http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12018/7554018/Coleman-considering-Turner-call
He's already better than Collins, Williams and Blake. The only question is does he really want to play for Wales. The reports so far show him as less than enthusiastic.
HB, I haven't seen him dismiss it...in an interview on CC Player all he has said is that there is no point him discussing it until he gets a call...if he gets a call. Seems that call is now around the corner so we'll see what happens. Obviously a big decision for him but hopefully Coleman can persuade him .
Hudson became a club legend for me on Sunday. All the negative **** has been swept away this season, and his performance on Sunday was brilliant. Turner was outstanding as well, and I believe it is these two guys more than anybody else are who we need to stay fit for the rest of the season. In saying that, I thought everyone was brilliant. If I had to be tough, I would say Kenny was wasteful. That miss in the dying seconds and missing the penalty were pretty wasteful. But....he busted his balls and did set up Mason. So proud of the whole lot of them
