    Never going to happen.

Why would any PL side want to break up the most lucrative league on the planet on the cusp of the biggest TV deal in football history?

The European clubs want a slice of our pie, and they can **** off.

Quite why the CEO's of the 5 clubs reportedly at this meeting felt that they should have a discussion without the sanction of the PL is a question that needs answering though.......

You can't see why say, Liverpool, would be interested in this? An European league I believe would have no relegation and the TV money would soon follow. It takes away the risk of losing CL money by not qualifying.

I'd actually quite like to see it happen tbh, as long as they're not allowed to scurry back at the first sign of trouble without starting at the foot of the pyramid.

    Would it?

An uncompetitive league that had no relegation would produce the kind of product that would be more popular than the PL which is watched in 900 Million homes worldwide currently?

It'd have to practically to double the new PL deal to equate to the same income as the PL + CL cash as it stands today - not a ****ing chance.

It depends, would the PL have a worldwide viewing of that many without United etc.?

The biggest clubs in the league if this happens would probably be Yourselves, Spurs & West Ham (Villa going down). Do those teams have the same appeal worldwide as United/Liverpool?

You don't think SKY would rather spend billions for Bayern/Man United/Barca/ Juventus etc. than Everton, Spur, West Ham, Stoke etc.?

I think the football teams are sick of UEFA and want to do its own champions league and get more of the money

    You've missed the point.

A European league wouldn't generate the same level of cash as the PL + CL currently does, as the product would be dull in comparison to what makes the PL so popular. Which is the excitement generated by the fact that it's so competitive.

So if this happens teams couldn't qualify for it?

Now this makes more sense. Seeking to make it a closed shop.

However, that would also impact on the PL as the race for the top 4 would cease and the reason for investing so heavily in players to chase it would reduce and thus the quality, competitiveness and it's sale-ability would fall.

The rest of the PL would never sign it off though, so I don't know why they're wasting their time.

I haven't, I understand your point entirely, not agreeing doesn't mean I've missed it <ok>

Would the product be dull? In your opinion maybe and I probably wouldn't be bothered about watching it but I bet there's plenty round the world who would love to watch a league format off all the top sides in Europe.

Anyway it appears that we may have got it wrong anyway? HRH above reckons it's to replace CL so they will still play in the PL anyway...

Off topic a bit Tobes but how bad are the restricted view seats at Goodison? Might try a visit this year as you'll be moving soon but as non ST holder I reckon restricted probably my best bet.

Yep goes against the spirit of competition really, there will be literally 15/16 teams whos only aim is to avoid relegation, what a crock of ****.

Agree that I don't see other clubs signing it off. Poor big boys unhappy cos Leicester have crashed the party <laugh>

    Basically - yes.

This season could see Spurs and Leicester taking up 2 of the 4 places.

Chelsea have **** it, Liverpool ditto and United will probably also miss out.

They want to try and ensure that no-one can lever their heads from the CL trough.

    ****ing ****ers, they're dreaming <laugh>

The idea that a European league with no relegation could generate double what the PL currently does, is fanciful imo.

As for the restricted views at Goodison, they vary in just how bad they are. Which stand are you referring to mate?

The Euro league would have nothing to do with the PL, its an invite only cup.

But I go agree with you, it should be done on merit, top teams of the season get in.

The away section is in the corner of the Bullens road stand. The Upper tier is only usually taken by the clubs with larger away support. Not sure you'll take it, which will mean those seats will go on general sale to Evertonians. The view up there is alright and you'll be above your lot. So that might be your best bet.

The lower section is ****e beyond about 12 rows back, it's like watching the game through a letter box lol.

If you can't get anything in either of those 2, then the main stand is your best bet - middle tier of the 3 tier stand. The obstructed view seats aren't that bad - you'll basically have a pillar obstructing a small part of the pitch - at a distance.
