    Anyone like the idea?

I haven't seen a thread on this so I thought it might be worth a discussion as amazingly they seem quite serious about it.

As can be seen by the summer I have no great love for international football

I think I'd be OK with the world Cup every two years as long as it replaced the euros, if it was euros one summer world Cup the next I'd be less supportive.

All in all though I dont care

How the **** would all this be fitted in, even more qualifiers with presumably more breaks in domestic seasons. Madness.
And all being driven in the name of profit as usual.

It'd be one or the other every summer, thats the plan. Plus you'd still have to qualify, which they propose doing in two mid-season breaks. But all the other Comps go, Nations league, Confed Cup

For me its a hard No

I also find the argument "yet 133 countries have never been at the World Cup" as if a WC every other year is goin to change that. Theres a reason those countries dont qualify, its because their footballing setup is poor and has no history, probably because another sport dominates.

If the Middle East, where this idea came from (Saudi Arabia), want to qualify for more WC and do better they should stop funding European clubs and put the money into their own football infrastructure.

Comical that it's Wenger that's pushing this - seeing as I remember him being the first manager to routinely complain about his players being tired 3 games into the season.

I prefer international football to domestic but even I think this is ridiculous.

I like the idea of longer international breaks (and therefore less) though and have been calling for similar for years.

Not only would it be less disruptive to the domestic calendar but it would make it easier to follow if its not play 2 games, wait two months, play 2 games, wait 3 months, etc

They're proposing less teams per group so less games per qualification period. Doubling that would still be more though as far as I can tell.

Don’t think any fan wants this. A bit like the ESL the excitement of playing the big clubs in Europe is that it doesn’t come around every year and same for WC. Given gonna have to qualify for this tournament as well. Season is already broken up too much for international qualifiers, and now want to squeeze even more in.

Only thing that sounded good was the idea of a mid season break where can play international games in bulk. Would help everyone, would mean less breaks during the year. Would allow international managers time to actually work with their players for a period of time rather than have a day with them.

Now you've gone and buggered it up - it was meant to be in descending order of acceptability.

As always with these ideas, I read the headline and think, ok that coukd work if they did it in such a way, then you read the story and realise they want to do the exact opposite.

All it will do is kill the other stupid comps like Confederations cup and frankly take the special feel off the world cup.

A once in 4 years comp is big news and a big event in a players career.

When we had to win the league to get into the european cup that was a big deal too. Now it's just a yearly expectation.

    Its devaluing the comp.

    Exactly that.

Playing barca/juve/Bayern twice every year, year on year takes away the thrill of meeting them by "chance".

Same goes for the wc amd euros

I used to enjoy watching England play but there's such a lack of passion from the players now that watching them doesn't ignite my nationalism in any way. Oddly enough I enjoy watching other national teams who, without exception from what I've seen, are so fired up by playing for their country that I have actually invested emotionally with a country I have no link to whatsoever.

World Cup every two years, no.
