Never seems to get any praise or accolades yet week on week seems to me to put in a decent performance. Appears largely impervious to injury too.
Good point on the injuries and there’s no real cover apart from the boy Hamelamamamalalalalainen. He’s always ok. Never brilliant and almost never crap. Seems a nice enough bloke and a good sort.
Yes, we should value that he's good in the air; gets forward and puts some good crosses in; and is rarely made to look foolish by an opposition winger. Very solid and reliable at the back without being spectacular.
Hopefully he'll sign a new contract soon. He didn't seem unsettled in this interview conducted about ten days ago ... https://www.football.london/queens-park-rangers-fc/jake-bidwell-details-qprs-transformation-15579495
Having read the football.london article, he says that QPR have not approached him yet with a new contract offer. He comes across more as "keep my head down and get on with the job" (typical of the man) rather than being truly unsettled and actively looking elsewhere. Mind you, it seems to me that QPR have form when it comes to being slow with contract offers and they should get a move on in the case of this valued player.
It may be that he is one of the last signings we made before we put a lower ceiling on contracts, if so he may have to take a cut to stay...
My honest opinion: seems like a good guy but does basically the bare minimum. He defends somewhat well. Sometimes he gets twisted up all over the place by a good winger/attacker but generally he does somewhat well. In terms of attack, he can sometimes put decent crosses in. Sometimes he doesn't. But he can't take on defenders. So, he's fine if he's all we've got but I'd much prefer going after a defender who offers more than just basic defending and the odd decent cross.
