Even if Giroud was in decent form I would still think going for Ba in Jan would be a great idea especially seeing as he would be available for 7mn . I said before the season started I would like one more striker added and he has proven that not only can he handle and thrive in the league but that he is over his knee injury issue. I think he would move to us - bigger team, CL fighting for title (hopefully) and he will have a fight really only against Giroud. Even if Giroud finds form (which I am sure he will) I would like another striker on the roster and this one will be available for a good price.

I think he's questioning his role at Newcastle, so he might be interested in a move to Arsenal. I'd take him, he offers something unexpected for defenders and I think we do still need another CF seeing as Park and Chamakh seem to have one foot out of the club.

Absolutely. He's a player I'd like to see in an Arsenal shirt. Concerned that he'd be off to the ACON for a while though. If Senegal fail to qualify, then for 7m sign him up!

I imagine he'd want firm assurances that he'd be the main man, but even with Giroud as a sub, if you need a goal with 15mins to go and you can have Giroud, Podolski, Ba, Diaby & Merts on the pitch, that's some serious height!!

He's displeased at Newcastle because he's not starting every game. Why would he be happy here, where he's going to be behind Giroud and even possibly Podolski in the pecking order for our sole striker position?

Chelsea have told Torres he's the #1. IF Giroud doesn't fire by January (and I can see him bagging a good few) then I reckon Wenger might be tempted. He won't be on great wages, and he's a quality player for 7m.

No offence to Newcastle but it is a slightly different scenario to not start every game for them and not start every game for us. That being said I think it would be between him and Giroud for the CF position with Pod on the left and one of Gerv/Wal/OXO on the right. I also feel he is better at rotating positions then Giroud the difference between a static CF (montpellier game) and 3 rotating players (southampton) makes quite a big difference.

Besides as Piskie mentioned we need another CF and you will struggle to find a better premier league proven CF for 7mn and wages of 60-70k (presume he is on 40-50k at newcastle).

All the talk about Ba being uncertain and all that is just a bit of speculation.

Ba said in the Interview after the Everton game, that he was a bit unhappy at the start of the season, but he hopes to move on and he's looking at the positive.

I can't believe this myself, I thought the clause finished in August, ffs.

Yes. I still think we need another CF and if that buyout clause is there, then Ba could be a very good option.

I don't see the fuss. he's a walking injury risk, with our medical staff we'd never see him play. Plus he buggers off to the ACON most years too, if we were to sign him, i'd try and force a clause which says he has to retire from international duty.

Did anyone else see this thread title and think it meant bid for British Airways?
In any case, he's a good player, but I'm not sure if he'll suit our game that well, don't think he'll contribute much to the buildup
