Have a look at this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2012/09/champions_league_british_chanc.html And tell me, do Arsenal receive a disproportionately small amount of consideration compared with the others? And is that justified?
Nobody can claim it's not justified when everybody on here was writing off our chances of the Champion's League at the start of the season. Just look at the "is our squad strong enough" thread. It would be hypocritical to moan about how we're not strong enough, and then criticise the BBC for saying it too.
Even Celtic got more coverage in that article. Celtic! Surely Arsenal have a better chance than they do?
Haven't you guys noticed how forced McNumpty's compliments to Arsenal look after a win or good game? No surprise here. If it was up to the guy they'd only cover Man Utd and Liverpool in their articles.
and he is the BBC's chief football writer. God forbid we actually win anything this season, he might be forced to write more than one paragraph about Arsenal . .
im a toon fan,the keep quite and sneek up approach worked quite well for us last year, when you get further than the other"big" teams the rubbing of noses in sh1te is so much sweeter
The best position to be in, is in one of underestimation because at least if you fail, no one really cares but if you succeed, you surpass all expectations.
McNulty has been bitter about the Arsenal since 1989 as he is a Liverpool fan.He used to report on Liverpool games for the Daily Post
So called chief football writer does not really care too much for Arsenal. That's ok because I feel the same way about his views. Where is his piece on his beloved Liverpool? Oh yeah they don't make champions league anymore. Channel 5 team at best nowadays.
Hey, hey, hey - don't you go covering me with the everybody tag! I get a lot of crap but I stick to my optimistic (some might say deluded) opinion. It makes me happy, so there!
Honestly , who cares what the tw@t writes. Its the BBC . Did you expect anything positive to be written about anything ? I call it the Michael Buerk syndrome. Much handwringing and bemoaning , followed by a large dose of "i told you not to expect anything , the world is a terrible place ."
I always presumed he was a Liverpool fan because he always covered Liverpool and not Everton games when he worked for the Post
Well I may be wrong, but I think Chelsea and Manchester City are being vastly over-rated by everyone this year. Chelsea look weak to me everywhere but attacing mid, and Manchester City have still not had to deal with an injury crisis, like most of the other teams. If Yaya or Kompany go down then they are going to have issues. On top of that, it is a mystery to me how Manchester United keep rolling. I think they are about to drop off a cliff every year. They seem to survive on confidence and a positive attitude. Something we need to learn.
Exactly. I think one of the reason is they are given too much respect at Old Trafford. Too many teams just back off even if they can perfectly press them in midfield. Same as Arsenal right after our purple patch. It took other teams a couple of years to realize we were not that strong anymore. I find most ManU games plain boring, it does not deter pundits from salivating. They will be exposed sooner or later, methinks.
Hahaha, it looks almost like a brief note he'd made to expand on later but forgot and just published it. Bit poor really.
