Just received this through my text regarding g energy rebate. It's from a mobile and gives a link to a very authentic looking gov site. Ends up asking for bank details at which point I reported it to the government scam site at [email protected]. below is a screen shot of the text so beware lads.
I’ve nothing to worry about there They just want more money off me and no help from government I’m oap but I’m not on benifits However thanks for the tip off
Always check the number any text comes from and if it is a mobile it will always be a scam. With emails always check the email address which has sent the message, scams come from emails with strange looking emails behind them. I keep getting some offering me free stuff from PC World, the name on the email looks ok but click on the email and read the address, not a link, and you see it has nothing to do with the company.
As soon as these come through,go straight on Google "Energy text scam" or whatever is popular at the time.
Just had new bill from eon and I am more confused than I was before.I was paying £191, they have apologised for the increase due to their costs spiraling so have had to alter my DD to £176.
You keep saying you get no help off the government but you have 4 or 5 holidays a year. Government aid is targeted at people who are struggling, need financial help and can't afford a meal or heating, never mind holidays.
Just had my email from my supplier, going up to 2975 a year. Up 600 quid. Greedy bastards Thanks for the tip off on the scam.
Everyone gets the help tbh. £400 goes to your suplier and further money goes to them to keep the rates lower than they would be by quite a lot. It is a bonkers energy system by the way. You could make a case for it in in normal times, but these aren't them, and changes to future contracts are a certainty, starting very soon.
These are screenshots of 2 different ones that I recieved within seconds of each other, notice the phone numbers and compare them to the one you received, they all start with the same 6 digits
I don't get the morals of these people easy money no matter who it hurts. Then when they get caught it's a slap on the wrist and worth the risk for the reward.
I couldn't believe how low they stoop, especially the one pretending to be someone's daughter who's phone is broken. They will have sent that to thousands of numbers and I but the majority of mothers with daughters will have replied giving these scum access to their phones. What really amazes me is the people doing this are probably quite intelligent and what they do probably takes some work to setting up, why not use your brains and time to get a ****ing job
