So if you are reading this you were warned - for those of you who do not like mixing politics with football on this site.

Just thought I would say how pleased I am to see the police have finally taken action against the Dale Farm "travellers"

Leo I agree this situation should have been sorted out a long time ago , it should never have got to be a big a problem as it has become! Cost the taxpayer a fortune in legal fees for both sides!!!

I would like to see the law apply this simple principle. One who comes into equity must come with clean hands. It basically means that if you ask for help about the actions of someone else, but have acted wrongly, then you do not have clean hands and you may not receive the help you seek.

So in this case the fact that the travellers have broken the law by living there should mean that the law should not protect them and allow them to hid behind it.

I also think the police should be able to use all due force to remove them, if they are met with resistance then why cant they retaliate?? They are doing their job and have to protect themselves.

I for one would find the nearest thug who threw a brick at me and smack my baton across the back of his/her legs!! They would be happy to call these same police if they had been robbed or burgled, but as soon as they are in the wrong the police are scum!!

Hang on ,the people were protecting the place where they have lived! Where are they going to go? surely this problem will just be set up somewhere else and the whole thing starts again , the main problem is tackling homelessness properly!
How to do that,I dont know!

But the local council have offered them permanent 'brick and mortar' houses but they refused them because they wanted to remain travelers and this option was not good enough!! They have then been offered a new site similar to the one they have now, just in a legal location. Guess what, they declined that too! They claimed they wished to settle down now!!

They are doing so illegally!! If they wish to protect it they should do it peacefully and through the courts. They tried the courts and that has failed. That should be end of argument case closed. Kick the scum out!!

Don't know much about the story - am presuming that they wanted to stay there free of charge at ratepayers' expense, which appears to be the case on such sites up here?

Having wasted more public money on appeals, they're now unwilling to accept the referee's decision and resort to violence - shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone really.

Maybe I have a warped sense of fairness - but is it fair to everyone else that these people expect to live outside the boundaries of 'normal' society, ignoring our rules and conventions, yet expecting us to fund them? I think not.

BB- That is exactly right. The council have offered them a new site or permanent residence and because they would be classed as homeless they would be top priority!!

Granted it would be interesting to see in detail what they were offered and what sort of time scales were discussed!
I still think just moving these people around the country is going to be expensive and counter productive!

As far as i know it the council offered them another site which is ready made. Also there is room for some of them in the legal site.

Yeah there would be a little thing called council tax! Although most would probably qualify to have it paid by the government.

They want to have their cake and eat it, but its just not going to happen, so they are getting violent.

The lögrelan are not armed, because we all know each other anyway, but I thought that with so many trouble makers in England the British police were. If they are not they should be and be ready to shoot criminals. They should start with Gordon Brown who named me a terrorist.

So no difference - they still expect that 'we' will pay for their lifestyle.

One thing I don't understand is why do the "travellers" have some brick built properties. I've never seen a brick property being towed up the motorway. And how often do they travel if they have been there 10 years?
