Football manager escapes death after freak squirrel accident.

S****horpe United manager Alan Knill has revealed he could have been killed after a freak cycling collision with a squirrel caused him to fly over his handle bars and crack his nut. Crafty squirrel found a way of having it's nuts cracked for it.

The former Wales player was cycling along unawares when the troublesome rodent got stuck in his wheels and sent him head over heels.

He escaped with cuts and bruises but says it could have been a lot worse.

“I got hit by a squirrel,” Knill told BBC Radio Humberside. “I went over the top of my bike and landed on my head, shoulder and neck.

“I saw it run into the road but couldn’t do anything about it and it just hit my wheel and stuck in my wheel and hit my brakes.

“For a minute, I thought I might have been in trouble because I landed on my head. Then, all of a sudden, I thought: ‘I’m not, I’m alive!’

“Fortunately my collar bone is OK but I am pretty bruised.”

S****horpe are currently rooted to the bottom of League One having lost their opening six games, but Knill says his narrow escape has put footballing matters in perspective.

“I could be dead and it’s so stupid,” he said.

“I’m not and you have to put things into perspective.

“The situation we’re in at the moment, I don’t cherish, but there are worse situations.” Yes, just ask the poor squirrel.

    Squirrels are crazy animals.

Me and my mate were walking through a park back to his at about 6am after an "intresting" evening a few years back, when we came across and startled a squirrel on a fence. We didn't see it before it saw us but we obviously scared it as much as it scared us. "A squirrel scare you?" I hear you ask. Damn right, like I say we had been out on the old Jacks and Jills, and met a friend called Charlie (don't do any of this any more btw) but needless to say we were not in the best frame of mind. Now i don't know if anyone knows this but squirrels BARK, when this squirrell jumped off his fence on to the ground infront of us and started barking, in our delirious state we didn't know what to do but scream and run the other way. Still to this day if you throw a small stuffed animal infront of me or him and make a loud nioise you can still see the horror in our eyes till this day.

    100% true story!!! haha

Haha my mate had just quit his job to go back to uni (coincedently he had been at Newcastle but dropped out because he was taking a chemistry degree and having a few to many "intresting" evenings up there) and I was at the time unemployed. Basically we went out on the lash, met up with our mate Dr Ugs (guess how he got that nickname) at the pub and basically proceeded to drink more than should humanly be possible while sniffing and dropping everything and anything we could get out hands on. Have to say i dont remeber much about the evening apart from trying (and failing miserably) to break into a local pastry shop until the alarm sounded which was just before this squirrell incident!

In your vulnerable state you're lucky the squirrel didn't get your nuts.

Squirrels are aggressive little feckers, we get loads in our garden due to the two big walnut trees we have. They sit on the garden wall and "bark" well not like a dog, more of a chattering sort of sound. They do this when they are confused or peed off.
They scare the holy he'll out of our cat lol who won't go outside if they are there.
Better still is when they have a go at each other, boy can they move, there agility is astounding, can we possibly swap Obertan for a squirrel or two?

Bloody hell, that was one heck of a flying leap.
I am amazed that it survived a fall from such a height, but it did appear to be unhurt.

    That's brilliant.

We have a couple of squirrels at the bottom of the garden. I love watching them jumping around the trees.

I'm an Englishman, and it quite clearly sounded German.

Also G4rd, I saw this and thought it would be appropriate for you

Yeah, could be a good defensive tactic, get the squirrel to bury the ball under the turf. I know from personal experience how good they are at digging up the lawn!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bless the cute little furry tree rats.
