Where will we finish this season? I just had a look at the table this time last season to compare with this. We are currently 14th, with 17 points and -1 goal difference after 13 games. After 13 games last season we were 16th - with 17 points and 0 goal difference! discuss.....
Voted "Better" as have to keep as cheerful and optimistic as one can There are signs of improvement, but we are still finding it rather difficult to score goals, to put it mildly. Time will tell
To be fair it is only October and AA needs a lot longer in charge before we see what his real potential is. Apparently with Guy there were other issues, eg the lassaiz-faire approach to training, as I understand it, and the players fitness was one of those issues. Barker - well, least said etc. But here we are 2 points and 4 goals from the play-offs and 8 points away from the top so we aren't really doing too badly.
The league position would indicate that you are better than last season - sorry to harp on but DC is a proven goalscorer so unless it causes a player mutiny I cant understand the situation with him it beggars belief he wouldn't be an asset - voted better.
Only those who are In The Know have any idea what's going on with DC. Loads of supporters keep asking the question but AA says he's not in his plans and Iain McInnes says he's not in AAs plans this year. The sports reporters at the News are completely fed up with people asking them what's going on. People who know people at the club are saying things like he's a divisive influence in the dressing room/he's a bad apple/he threw his toys out the pram/he's upset too many people around the club - things like that - but he was coaching under Guy and the younger ones seemed to like his coaching. All the rest is just guesswork. He has got a squad number, is in the squad photo's and is still training with the squad but doesn't even travel to matches. AA keeps saying that there is a good atmosphere in the dressing room and emphasised that there are no problems.......... so make of that what you will. Personally I think they should all get over themselves, he's being paid so play him.
Wouldn't a club statement clear things up just to say he is "not in AA's plans" when he is obviously someone who has quality - it would stop all the questions and head scratching as to why he isn't there - why isn't he in "plans" come on clear it up - at the very least it would stop people like me banging on and I am from the Dark Side up the road.
"Fests"? The plaural implies more than one. What teams other than Sunderland have Southampton beaten 8-0 recently?
Well that sort of scoreline only comes around every 50 years. We will wait for you. Anytime you are ready...
We'll get a cup game some time sooner or later. I dont envison Pompey getting back to the Premier League in a decade or more. It's going to be a long rebuilding process.
