Right, seeing as we get started tomorrow in our Euro campaign, thought it would be interesting to see peoples highs and lows from watching/following England, should be interesting as we have a wide age range on here. I'll start: Highs: -Owen's goal against Argentina, was my favourite player at the time, n my first WC, besides, what a goal! -Stuart Pearce's penalty against Spain, really massive moment for both him and the country and his celebration proved how passionate he was to the cause! -Beating the Germans 5-1 in Munich...don't need to explain that. Lows: -Losing a 1 goal lead to France in 3 minutes in 2004. -Penalties...always bloody penalties...: -Campbells disallowed goal against Portugal in 04....still think we would of won that tournament had we won that shootout. Let's see what else we can get between us?
Best England moments for me are just before we start any tournaments because I am naturally optimistic, worst are when we actually kick off in those tournaments and reality kicks in.
Good moment was Beckham's goal against Greece and the German team were huddled around a TV because their game had finished before ours. Shame they qualified and won anyway (sigh).

For older subscribers, such as me, the loss of the home internationals is one of the saddest memories.
Best = John Barnes solo goal against Brazil. Worst = John Barnes then having 673 caps on the hope he scored again whilst playing crap.
This always gives me goosebumps: Best rendition of a national anthem ever! Look at how many players are roaring it out as well, espescially Southgate, poor old Southgate
Seeing Bobby Charlton score twice to get us to the final against Germany and then Geoff Hurst's hat-trick. Gordon Banks save from Pele in 1970.
Best England moments... The Rugby World Cup in 2003 The Ashes in 2005, and again in 2011 For football, well it's got to be smashing the Dutch 4-1 at Euro '96 Other than a few other fleeting moment, nothing at all really. Italia '90 was the greatest World Cup in my living memory, but unfortunately I was only seven at the time, so I was probably more preoccupied with my Lego, though I do still love watching the highlights vids. Epic tournament. Can't see it being surpassed ever again sadly. Worst England moments... Obviously there are a great many. But rather than opt for the shoot-out miseries, for me it has to be THAT game against Algeria. Utterly shameful. A laughing stock, and so boring, passionateless, just, just... painful. At least the penalties offers a bit of pride and empathy, even losing 4-1 to ze Germans we has the excuse of Lampard's goal. Algeria for God's sake! Sounds like an STD!
As a 12 year old in 1966 England winning the World Cup was the most amazing sporting achievement in my life, and still is really. Most disappointing was losing to Germany in Euro 96, when we could so easily have snatched a Golden Goal if Gazza had been a few inches nearer the goal. Worst England moment performance-wise, where do you start? Losing to Holland under Graham Taylor possibly.
best has to be watching the 66 world cup (only on TV :-( ) and winning in extra time after theie gut wrenching equaliser! most disppointing was losing to argentina in the world cup, after having the goal disallowed. I was in a pub with a work colleague near Kirbymoorside up t'north drinking bottles from an iced tub to avoid going to the bar. we were too depressed to get drunk so went to bed (separately i hasten to add) 2010 world cup for prolonged depression must run it a close second!
Best moment for me - the opening goal by Bryan Robson against France in 1982 - 27 seconds. For years the fastest World Cup goal, and I was 12 and went mental. Best Game - England v Holland (4-1) or England v Germany (5-1) Worst moment - the recurring memory of Chris Waddles' shot hitting the inside of the German post in the 1990 semi-final, and bouncing back out. The Germans were the only team in that tournament better than us, then we outplayed them on the day but lost. There are a zillion times they have let us down, but I'd rather forget those.
