The best wind up on this site has to be the "this is a university experiment" one ... was that Pope? The whole idea behind it was that the majority of people posting where "bots" and that the whole site was ran for a Professor that was doing a study of internet/forum behaviour! It had people phoning the University outraged ... think that was Mennie! I would love to get a link to it! Mick - would you be able to trace it?
don't know about the above but this one was set up by a poster on FF a few years ago and has to be the best one I ever seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uopof393lWE
**** sake can't find the post think it may have been deleted that time the forum was corrupted. Remember I said that part of our experiment was to change the forum software to see how people online react to change
The best wind up has to be Rockets pot Black, their must be a few who still have a copy from then, everytime I read it I had tears forming with the amount of laughter The one mentioned above was a good one, but it's no funny that I fell for it
It's funny reading over that again - it brings it all back. There was real hatred on the forum at that particular time, you really had to be there to see it. The fall out from it the following day was incredible as The Getalong Gang knew they were beaten once and for all. Ace said to Mick.. . " Your management team are on the edge of walking, and I mean the ****ING edge!" "management team" WTF!!!! I swear I was horizontal when I read that. Good times.
I wasn't there for a Q & A sesion, my mission had been accomplished the minute Jacky asked the first question. I was banned from the forum back then. Frank had been fighting my corner along with Pope who ended up being banned as well. The place was crazy and there was a huge divide with fights breaking out on a daily basis as both sides fought for control. The good guys won.
I knew **** all about it and got blamed on being in on it because I didn't turn up for it. Can't even remember why I didn't turn up, think it was because John Higgins as a celebrity wasn't that exciting or I just forgot or something. Logged on the next day and the place was in absolute meltdown. ****ing glad I wasn't that excited about it or else I would have been declared to have been a victim of it I mean wtf, how could an internet wind up on a poxy little board cause such a melt down? It's fair to say that the TF forum was sitting there already built waiting for such an occassion, was no way that was set up in the few hours after that meltdown. So really the parting of the ways was almost probably inevitable.
