So after the previous 'Best' threads, I now move on to video games! So what do you feel are the best videogames? From whatever, time or console. From Amiga to Playstation, from Sega Saturn to Nintendo Wii! RTS, TBS, RPG, FPS, MMORPG, RTT, there are many different genres out there, so what are your favourite games?

Personally, my very favourite game is Neverwinter Nights. Such an amazing game and all the online servers are very good. There were some good LoTR ones and there's a really good Harry Potter role-play one. Hufflepuff FTW!

I also like Fallout 3 a lot. I've never played Fallout 1 or 2, or New Vegas but it's just such a dark, atmospheric game. And the fact is, especially at the beginning it is difficult to survive, with extremely limited ammunition and weapons that break over time, forcing you to improvise using, for example, a board with a nail in it and then when that breaks perhaps using a pool cue.

I'm aware this is a very geeky thread, but oh well! Be interesting to see what other people like!

Edit: It seems the Saint's fans are more inclined to stay on their own board, so to facilitate cross-Solent discussion, here's a link to the equivalent thread in the Southampton board! http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/143577-Best-videogames

I play on the PC also, best game in recent memory is STALKER - sounds a bit like Fallout 3 as in early on it's difficult to survive and at first you can only get crappy weapons. However it drags you in, can do little missions, join a clan or just wander around trying not to get killed by a pack of wild dogs. I just acquired a bunch of games on ebay, so I'll probably add some more here once I get the time to play!

    Isn't Stalker set in Chernobyl?

Yep, that sounds like Fallout 3. Saying that I seem to have quite a bit more ammo now. Running out isn't quite such an issue. Though you've still got to be quite frugal.

I'm not one for video games these days, but I loved Brian Lara World Cup Cricket '96 and PGA Tour Golf II on the Sega Megadive!

Final Fantasy 7 on the PS1 is by far the most immersive, imaginative, brilliant and all round excellent game of all time. Its also 15 years old.

If you disagree with me, then go play it, and then come back and tell me i'm wrong......which i'm not by the way!

Sepiroth is by far the best baddy from any game and on par with Darth Vader in baddassness!

If you liked Fallout 3, Lapras, you'll enjoy New Vegas too. It's an even better game.

Currently, I'm mostly playing Skyrim (I heavily recommend it,) and the Mass effect series (also awesome.)

Never really played any football games.

N64 and Goldeneye was class. Playstation, Time Crisis was quality then there was Rayman (what a game that was!). Best football game I ever played was This is Football - I enjoyed the diving and neck high tackles. Grand theft auto 3 was genius for its time. The Tekkens provided hours of fun back in the late 90's early 00's. Kind of missed the Pokemon thing, but had a massive effect on my sister and people her age. COD modern warfare in more recent times for the online capacity. No other COD has come close to this.

    Other notable inclusions:
    Silent Hill 1,2,3.
    Crash Bandicoot
    Oddworld: Abe's oddysee

Yes, the main aim is to navigate 'the Zone' and reach Pripyat in the center (don't want to give too much away in case anyone wants to play it!) It was made by Ukrainian developers also which I think is best, first hand experience of the event must have played a big part. There's a fair few radioactive areas around which are best entered wearing a special suit or downing some vodka, as these help limit the damage.
I shall have a go at Fallout as in many ways it sounds similar, and I like the idea of picking up random items and seeing what they do!

    My top games =
Altered Reality (The Dungeon) - Atari 130xe (with 3 disk drives or it was crap).
Frontier Elite 2 - Atari ST or PC (I still keep a Pentium 1 166mhz 32mb laptop going to play this)
    Wizball - Atari ST
Altered Reality (Pt1 of above) -Atari 800XL
Rescue From Fractalus - Atari 800 (not XL as it needs the 4 joystick ports to be fun, fun, fun)

At No 1 though is the great SENSIBLE SOCCER - Atari ST or Jaguar. Looks crap, plays superb.
