Don't really think you can take those figures too seriously, because what's considered local and what's considered a local fan can be hard to determine. Buth we've always known that Newcastle and Sunderlands fans are good, that's why we have the 3rd and 4th biggest stadiums.
Were do they get 178,000 from? http://oneplace.audit-commission.go...ea/pages/areaoverview.aspx?region=52&area=447 OK, so statistics can be massaged any way but ffs, how do they get 100,000 difference?
They will also put South Tyneside in the NUFC catchment area, when in reality, it is 50/50 around here and thousands of people from here, go to the Sunderland games.
Nein mein fruend. It quite clearly states on the Talkshite article that they took the figures of the town or city in which they were based, IE, the population of said town.
it's a bit stupid when you consider the amount of people at Anfield, old Trafford etc than aren't actually from Liverpool or Manchester. Same goes for other clubs but on a smaller scale.
Indians and Chinese will soon dominate the world...so how will that effect the game's attendance from local population?
Pretty good to be top IMHO. I don't think that 1 in 4 of the city is inside the SoL on match days, but it illustrates the point that we are utterly brill
It's based on 'city boundaries', meaning it's fundamentally flawed. A massive amount of both North East teams regulars come from outside the city itself (Gateshead, Shields, Easington etc). In short, bravo Wigan.
I've got to say, those figures represent the biggest pile of ****e that I have ever seen..The city population is over 250,000 and then we have a large local catchment area in Durham and South Tyneside..However, it is Talksport so it is what we should expect..
