That is exactly how I would sum up our current group of players. After the first few pre season games and only Cuellar arriving through the door all of us fans were a tad worried about a lack of activity with regards to incoming transfers but over the last 14-15days things have changed, firstly Saha then Johnson and Fletcher followed by the loan signing of Rose yesterday. Now we have had a couple of good squads while we have been in the prem, the squad that had Bent, Gyan, Welbeck and Campbell in was a fairly good squad but come the end of the season 5 or 6 players were going back on loan so yet again it was time for another squad overhaul but with only the one loan signing this window and with the quality of the players we have got the best squad since we came back to the prem, all the deadwood has gone IMO and now we can go forward properly. As a club you are always looking to improve, we did this transfer window, we will in January and we will next summer but there will be no more squad overhauls or desperate Jan loan signings it will be 2 or 3 max and with Kilgallon, Bramble, Campbell and maybe even Meyler entering the final year of there contracts it is up to them to step up to the plate and show why they should be apart of this squad or face being moved on for nothing next summer. All in all a great time to be a SAFC and this is just the start I am sure of that
Thing with our squad poolie is that we always look good in one area okay in one and weak in one, now though with our present squad we look good in two areas and okay in one so maybe we can actually get a few extra points on the board and move up the league a place or two.
Good squad and some excellent additions this summer. Very balanced although I'd have preferred an experienced LB and 1 more forward but nonetheless a nice look to it. And don't forget the most important bit. Someone in the managers chair who knows what they are doing.
Over the years i have thought about best squads etc, but certain players have let us down and a few last season late on, the one thing MON has not done is get the 2 quality strikers we needed, and they went for a combined £10 m yesterday to Spurs and Fulham. But Johnson, Mclean, sess and Seb should get a few goals.
