We have had threads on the best saints side using players from past and present. This got me thinking about how hard would it be to name a side with just players that started their careers at Saints? Well it was bloody difficult let me tell ya! Midfielders and strikers easy defenders and goalkeepers not so much.Anyway here is my Saints youth eleven plus subs. Mine my change when i have read some of yours as my memory is not as good as it used to be because i'm getting old.lol GK Blayney RB Baird CB Matt Mills CB Monk LB Bridge RM Lallana LM Bale CM Le Tissier CM N Holmes STK Shearer STK Channon Subs Poke Walcott Chamberlain Benali S Williams Can you do better than that?
I once went to se Saints reserves vs Winchester City (Aunty lived 400 yarsds frm the Winchester ground (or should I say pitch. lol) Some unknowns there but I am told they went onto greater things. Don't recall them doing anything but some players names I remember were Shearer, Le Tissier, Rod and Ray Wallace, Sure there were a couple more but as I say not really household names. Got their sigs on the back of a Daily Express. lol
i reiterate though. no wallace's on that list? Not one? You sure about this? Even chamberlain on the bench ahead of them?
Steve Williams starting please. Rod and Danny Wallace. Trevor Hebbard, Tony Sealey, Rueben Agboola, Malcolm Waldron (not sure if from youth team????) Kevin Phillips, Dennis Wise
when I was younger , the boys club I played for reached the last four of a competition that saints ran for all local clubs called the Sotonia cup, we had a training session at the Dell. David Armstrong was coming back from an injury so was in goal. From the standshe always looked a small little baldy, but he was huge- built like the the proverbial outhouse. Anyway we played our our game against a team called Wellington, we had never heard of them but they were the saints youth team of the time. They had the wallace twins (fast as hell, as our centerback ran the 200 and 400 meters for southern schools and the centerforward twin pissed all over him and also a young Francis Banalli ( who scored 2 goals in his saints career ) was playing center forward. Anyway they beat us 7-1
