Who do you think was the best Saints player signed from Pompey? . The only ones I remember are Barry Horne , Nigel Quashie ,Ricardo Fuller and Jhon Viafara. How do you think they did? What about former Pompey players who signed for Saints later in their careers from another team for example John Beresford, Peter Crouch and Vincent Pericard. There maybe others Ive missed that you may remember that I have forgotten. For me the best player to sign from Pompey was Barry Horne. Quashie and Viafara did not do too bad if I remember correctly. As for the best former Pompey player signed by Saints from another team that I remember it has to be Peter Crouch. Right over to you
I like Peter Crouch...does well for every team he joins. If only he knew when to play the ball into the corner rather than go for goal
That's the next thing you could learn how to do. Importing appropriate fancy dan smilies we don't have here.
From the dim and distant past - Mick Mills, released by Pompey when they had to make savings (even back in the 60s the club were in financial trouble so whoever has been in charge down the years nothing much has changed in that respect)by getting rid of the reserve and youth teams, was signed up by Ipswich .... the rest is history!!
Calling it now that it will eventually be James Ward-Prowse. I think he came from Pompey's academy didn't he?
Think he was just born in Portsmouth. OXO was either already in the Portsmouth youth set-up, or deciding whether to go to his hometown club or Saints academy. [I think].
They've been a badly financed club for as long as I can recall. Don't think they've ever had proper amounts of money to spare. When they've had money they've misused it almost immediately. As Claridge said as little as a year or so ago: Portsmouth are the only club I know that have gone into the Premier league and come back out with not one penny being spent on the infrastructure of the club, so that they are in just as bad a condition as they ever were. [or very similar words to that effect].
