Well obviously it isn't the present, as it's been a rubbish summer (winter in Peru) to be an R's fan. I did have the joy of seeing Peru finish 3rd in the Copa America on Saturday, this is after they finished last in South America for the qualification for the last world cup. The new manager has done the trick, Markarian, a wily old Uruguayan, who has known how to get the best out of a mixture of hardworking and the odd 'star' players, sound familiar? The Peruvian F.A. is on a par with the goons and appointing Markarian (the Uruguayan Warnock) is the only decent thing they've done in the last 10 years. Our hopes are raised for qualifying for Brazil 14 which starts in October! Something tells me it could still all go wrong...

Anyway, back to the title of this post. For me it was beating the Owls on the last day of the season to get promoted back to the Championship, probably wasn't even called that then. I'd survived a terrible car crash a few weeks earlier, and the final few games were joyous if physically painful viewing. As a season ticket holder in the paddock I'd often called over to Gino Padula at the end of games for a chat in Spanish, and it was fitting at the end of the season at Hillsborough to congratulate him in his native tongue. You Rrrrrrrssssssss!!!!!
