Ok let's be honest it's our defence that will get most of the plaudits at the end of the season and rightly so, but I think our 'workmanlike' midfield has certainly helped in the 2nd half of the season. So overall who would be your first midfielder on the team sheet? Whelpdale for me who I still believe is a class act at this level and rarely has a bad game and dare I say one of our very few creative players. Also like Lee but he doesn't get enough games. Just seen Sturrock has been given the boot. Southend are absolutely mad.
Lee has not been as good this season and Whelpdale hasn't been the same as last season however he has probably been the best as there is not many to choose from as it is between the ones who have been here from the start of the season so Allen, Whelpdale, Lee, Weston, Dack and if you are Martin Allen then you can add in Frampton as he has played there a lot. I think I would have to go for Weston as he has been brilliant many times this season and I know he has played a lot upfront and has been on the bench many times but he is such a game changer I had to go for him however other than him it would have to be Whelpdale as I do like him a lot and I think he is a brilliant player but I wish he was a bit more like when he was on loan as he was better then than he is now.
Really difficult question for me. So I always say what I think and honesty is called for in such a situation. Danny Kedwell. You can mock me all you like but that is my honest opinion. I don't want to open up discussions about strikers and goals scored, I am genuinely keeping on the topic in question. If you want to twist my arm and say I cannot have that choice, then my favourite would be Charlie Lee. Is favourite same as 'Best', probably not but it is still Lee, with Whelps close behind.
I agree with Lenny and brb, the choice lies between Kedwell and Whelpdale. I would go for Kedwell on the grounds of workrate, better goals per game and most important of all the best points per game of the whole team. Overall though, midfield has been a disappointment.
Ermm... tough one, but I would go for Robinson, which is odd as he is only a half-a-season man but I guess it shows the "issues" we have had in midfield this season
I would have gone for Robinson if he had been here all season and also if Dack had played a lot more he would be up there.
Has to Myles Weston for me, he can be a bit hot and cold but has created a decent number of our goals this season, always works hard and I love to see a pacey winger using that pace to bomb back and get behind a man putting on pressure.
