Read an article on this and it interested me, especially because of the possibilities that were there and just imagining the team that we could've/would've had. We're always talking about the midfield we coulda had but the rest of the team don't look too shabby. If you were going with their performances for Leeds not elsewhere and no players produced before Thorp Arch I'd go with:

    --------------------------------Robinson----------------------------------

    Kelly---------------Woodgate------------Kilgallon--------------Harte

    -------------------------McPhail--------------Delph------------------------

    Lennon------------------------Howson-------------------------Kewell

    -----------------------------------Smith-----------------------------------

Didn't put Byram in there because I just don't think he can compare to Kelly. Also as I was going for performances for Leeds rather than away so I chucked McPhail in there instead of Milner. Also struggling to think of strikers, can only really think of Smith.

Mostly agree but would have Milner instead of McPhail. That team would probably be worth 100m today if all in their prime. Hopefully Thorp Arch is about to start full production again

We could have had David Seaman or John Lukic in goal. No mention of Gary Speed?

It is based on players who graduated through TA, so excludes those who preceded it, Batty, Speed etc

Yea, only put McPhail in because he was more influential at Leeds whereas Milner didn't play that many games for us. I agree he is a better player though

Gary Speed, Lukic and Seaman weren't through thorp arch, they were before if I remember correctly

Yea fair enough, thought it was around that time.

Hoping that some of the younger players coming through will soon be able to make it into that team

Can't even remember Kelly, so it would have to be Byram for me even though this is effectively only his 2nd season. Also agree that Milner has to be in there instead of McPhail. Just think of the side we would have now had we not gone south as a result of the Living the Dream nightmare. The midfield alone would be almost England's first choice. Scary thought!!!

With Byram moving up and Mowatt now starting, it'll be interesting to see what the England under 21 side looks like in the near future. Mowatt, Byram, Dawson if he can start to get game time somewhere.

He spent his entire career at Leeds, 15 years or so.... He was related to Ian Harte

You must be only twenty if you can't remember. No wonder you're always so bloody positive. This is probably the best Leeds team you've ever seen

Eire, I'm actually over 50. But there's a bit of a gap. I remember Paul Reaney and I remember Paul Madeley (RB & CM), but whilst I remember the name of Gary Kelly, I don't really remember him as a player. That said, it sounds as though Byram will have to come of the TA Best XI bench to replace him in the 2nd half. Still a hellava side.

Kelly was pre- TA, so doesn't qualify. I would probably put Alan Maybury or Fraser Richardson at RB, as to me, one year in the team doesn't really qualify Byram for this honour. Yet.
