It's a shame Nani may leave but I am surprised Man Utd.com left out this performance in the listings! I am sure you guys will enjoy this video. When he's at his best he's a real monster! Title spelling error : Individual*
I wish Nani could manage to have more than a small handful of these great individual performances a season, and personally I think Valencia had some better individual performances this season, plus he's more consistent.
I think he does tbf. He started the season on fire and when Youngs form dropped Nanis remained. He picked up a knock and Valencia got his place back and also performed. Nani played well still but Valencia finished the season better which gives the impression he was much better than Nani. They had quite similar seasons in reality and both were very good. 17 goals/assist for valencia and 18 for nani.
How about the Arsenal game where he scored and setup the winner and was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire game? Nani was still having his good run of form at that point in the season and played well in the game, but Valencia completely outshone him from start to finish.
Psycho2k I wonder why? Nani was on the left and is simply half the player on the left. I would like to see how Valencia would play on the left! Valencia gets too much special treatment for my liking. The fact that he is not versatile is deeply worrying if we want to match the elite teams in the world! He makes Robben look like he has a fantastic right foot! Valencia is a consistent player and he is very good but he is not ever going to be a top, top player. To win the CL for instance, we need a much more fluid line up and Valencia simply will have to sit out the latter stages of the CL if we reach them.
Valencia's consistency is why he gets "special treatment", Fergie knows exactly what he's going to get every time and it's not like that lack of versatility makes it any easier to defend against, teams have knows what he's all about since a few weeks after he joined Wigan but they still struggle to stop him. Until Nani can produce the goods consistently over the course of a season he will also never be a truly world class player no matter how versatile or two-footed he is. By the way, if Nani is so truly versatile and fluid why should playing on the left make one bit of difference? In fact, wouldn't it suit his style of cutting inside and shooting at every opportunity even more than playing on the right, just like Ronaldo at Real?
No not really as Nani prefers to cut in on his left foot. If you watch Nani, he prefers to shoot with his left foot from distance. I don't know why but he prefers it!
So what your saying is that Nani must play on the right to be truly effective because he can't shoot with his "strong" foot?
No, I am not saying that! I am just saying, Nani has more to offer than Valencia on the right which he does. He offers a more tactical dimension during games. When things are not quite working on the right side, he can easily switch to the left or central. Valencia can't.
Nani is definitely more... unpredictable, but he is also a lot more wasteful than Valencia, and because Valencia is much better at defending it also frees up the full back to make more overlapping runs which is why Rafael seems to have a very good partnership with him.
I wouldn't mind if Nani went, as long as all of the money was re invested in a ****ING TRADITIONAL CENTRAL MIDFIELDER
Evra plays better with Nani, most of Rafael's forward runs when he plays with Nani are wasted, Jones is often the better choice when Nani plays on that side because he's naturally more defensive.
