What's the best goal scored against your team? I have done pre the premier league (when not many games were televised) and post prem. For me it's: pre 1992 The Steve McKenzie equaliser in the 1981 FA Cup Replay. Truely brilliant goal but over shadowed by what followed. post 1992 Henry ... ran most of the length of the pitch beating everyone before score.
Nothing comes immediately to mind. Considering the level, Gary Jones scored a screamer for Rochdale at St Marys back in 2010.
Few spring to mind, Seb Larsson for Birmingham about 8 or so years ago hit a rocket in the last minute at WHL. Obiang's one this season at Wembley was pretty special. Best though is probably Umtiti's in the Europa League when he was still at Lyon, hit it on the half volley and the way it just rocketted into the top corner from an angle was crazy, the speed on it was ferocious.
Good of you to admit that. It was a cracking goal and I was there to see it. The celebrations were a mixture of elation and disbelief at what he'd done, and that pic of him in front of the Spurs fans is a classic To return the favour though, I'm going to have to go with David Bentley's goal against us from just inside our half at the emirates. Although it is slightly tempered by the fact that you made a DVD of that draw and he was utter **** for you other than that goal, and the fact that we got some money from you when you bought him from blackburn.
I went for Obiangs even though I spelled his name differently. I recall that Umtiti strike..what a goal..caught it perfectly on the half volley.
This ****er....was part of the intro to MOTD forever. Chips it up and volleys it into the top corner from a different postcode. I was on The Shelf watching it. It was 0-0 before he did that. Game over. Sickening......fabulous goal, mind.
That game with the Bentley goal was insane. We were losing 4-2 in the 88th minute at the Emirates but still managed to get a 4 all draw. The players were in disbelief and the crowd were completely silent...apart from the boos Wengers face was a picture too. Imho the NLD has produced some of the best derby matches in the past 10-15 years.
Agreed Especially compared to the Manc v Pool games which have been largely ****e. The NLD has always thrown up some belters. The 5-2 at the Emirates after you were 0-2 up and Adebayor was giving it large again was a recent classic, I was at that one too and we were staring down the barrel at you lot going 13 pts ahead of us with a win that day. We eventually overhauled you that season. I like to think it was my presence at the Emirates that day which started your collapse
For entertainment purposes it's the best in the Prem I'd say. Neither side comes to play for a draw like you see in quite a few derbies where the away side just tries to nick a point. The hatred between us and Arsenal means a draw or loss is a failure.
