Was wondering what you thought was the best game you ever been to watching the swans, I have some favourites amongst many, but it would be good to get a few reasons behind the answer. I know the obvious ones like the Hull game or our promotion to the premier league would stand out, so let's get some others. For me it was when we beat Bristol City 7-1 at the liberty , I remember the game vividly and my mates and I just couldn't believe how well we played, I also remember their manager just sitting slumped in the dug out, think he quit after the game. Also for me it was the Leeds game last season where we utterly dominated them the whole game, never had I seen a more accomplished game where we completely outplayed the opponents, I was sat there with a huge grin on my face all the game, fair play to the Leeds fans though, they were great.
Swans 3 Leeds 2 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/7157350.stm For me, this match had everything. From the post match build up to arriving at the ground with police helicopters overhead giving the atmosphere an extra edge. Leeds fans out in force as normal and two evenly matched teams near the top of the Division. Swans raced into a lead, had Boodde sent off and then held on for a great victory. Magic.
I have to say I agree with you PGF, that result against Leeds, a sending off a fantastic free kick by Robinson and the atmosphere was bouncing.
I missed that game pgf , I gave my voucher to my mates kid for his birthday, probably would have picked it if I went , the same for the first leg of the forest game in the playoffs
Yeah he loved it mate, he still speaks about it now when I see him, he's a good kid and comes to games now with some of his friends, he don't sit with us though as he is in the south stand, think he got converted to a swan from about that time
Avoiding the obvious ones Middlesboro away last season is right up there. Leaving Swansea at stupid o'clock, stopping off at Thirsk en route seeing us 3-1 down with half hour to go and then Beattie scoring a winner in injury time. There were about 300 of us there but we didn't half make some noise, the look on the Boro fans at the end was priceless, stunned into silence would be an understatement. Back home early hours, knackered for about 3 days after it but well worth it.
yea I missed the Leeds games also. Had my season ticket but had to rehearse that day. Umm, my favourite is probably the Sheffield UTD cup game. 5000 of us there. I haven't been supporting the Swans a huge amount of time, I think a year after we got to the Liberty, or that first season...Anyway, Sheffield UTD was my first away game! Incredible. Tommy Butler was a hero. We had our second 11 out, with rory Fallon in a defensiv midfield role if I remember. 4141? We completely outsung the home fans, and it was just a special day. Really enjoyed Norwich last season at home. Was one of the few games I caught live last season, and it was such a great day, and Borini was on fire...And special to Marks goal
Are we talking present tense or past because the massacre of white hart lane will allways be my favourite recently i agree the lids game
Always going to be Hull for me. I know it's obvious but still... Also, either of Notts Forest at home in the playoff semi 2nd leg or Reading at Wembley were pretty special...
This is a tough one!! Remember all the above games - Bristol City at home was brilliant I'd love to watch that game again we were taking shots from the halfway line in the end! Mine would be The Playoff final though - there's no way that could be beat!
Although the Leeds match is my favourite, ma favourite moment is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRF0PhlWrDg
7-1 Bristol city game was awesome, but my favourite game was the end of season game against Blackpool. Both teams threw caution to the wind and went for it, didnt it end 4-6? Thats how footys meant to be played.
i've been thinking about this one and there are so many to think of. how about the european game against panathinaikos. after what happened to our fans in greece. and the comeback from 3-0 down. the atmosphere at the vetch was bouncing. it was so packed that i couldn't even get anywhere near my usual spot on the north bank. the greek fans were in the east upper and letting off those green flairs. when we went 3-1 up, i thought we'd done enough. but they came back and then got a dodgy penalty late on to make it 3-3. i think i felt every emotion that night. and it's always stuck in my memory.
I cant believe no one has said this. But i am sorry it gets no better than may 2011. wembley. Swansea 4 Reading 2. The promise land awaits.
Two games, consecutive but months apart, PNE 1-3 Swans; Swans 5-1 Leeds Utd. The first was for the sheer joy of reaching the top flight for the first time ever; the second for the realisation that we would compete at the very top of that league, which we did. This closely followed by our Wembley win against Reading.
