Combining the recent threads of best goal and first game got me thinking, what's the best game you've been to as a City fan - and I mean for the game itself, not necessarily for the occasion (e.g. Wembley) or quality of the opposition (e.g. Emirates). One of mine has definitely got to be this classic:

Home to WBA in 2008. We lost 3-1 but both sides were very good indeed and I've never come away from a match having lost but been so happy. I'm usually effing and blinding all the way home about the ref or some other external influence but after that game I just thought "Wow".

There are probably other obvious ones I've missed but that's just a good one that sticks in my mind.

The 4-2 win against Oxford in 2003/2004 was pretty good, with both teams at the top of the table.
Edit: The first half was a bit ****.

But I agree, that was an amazing game. Ashbee's goal was a corker too!

Sounds weird and some of you just won't get it but it was the 5-1 loss to Tottenham, after their second goal had gone in I just accepted that the game had gone and sat back and watched Tottenhams player put on one of the most amazing displays of football I have ever seen they were simply outstanding that day and we lost to a far superior side. I'm normally swearing and threating and blamning everything but city for getting beat but that day you just had to sit back an admit we were up against a simply world class opposition and at the end of the day that is what we all watch football for isn't it?

Stoke, away. Probably around 2006 or so? We won 3-0, despite giving away two dodgy penalties (both saved).

I think the Stoke fans started having an in-fight scrap as well if memory serves.

    Awesome.

City v Wednesday Boxing Day 1970 4-4 after being 4-1 down.Used to live off First Lane Hessle walking back down Boothferry road after the game me and a mate giving the Vs to Wednesday fans on their way back when a coach pulled up top of First Lane and emptied out, i have never ran so fast.
Also later on that season at the Battle of Bramall Lane 2-1, cracker of a goal from Simmo. Happy days

Still the best team to come to the KC i think.

Has to be 4-2 v Wednesday at Hillsborough for me. Loved the whole experience. Was part of the massive swarm of City fans trying to pay on the gate. We didn't get in till late but just in time to see all the goals. Got to say it was a fantastic match, at a crackin' ground and a crackin' atmosphere. The City attendance was fantastic for a night match.

I remember a week of home games and they were quite memorable, we won 5-2 on the saturday having been 2-1 down at half time, 4-0 in mid week against Shrewsbury and then 1-0 at home to chester were if you weren't sat down before kick off you missed the goal as it was 55seconds into the game and was Andy Paytons last game for us

The 2-2 draw at home to Everton in our first PL season.

For 70 minutes we played better football than I've ever seen us play, and the Everton fans were gobsmacked with us 2-0 up. We were on fire.

Unfortunately, I feel at that stage we simply hadn't got enough PL experience to hang on (yes I know we'd already beaten Arsenal/Spurs/Newcastle etc...) and Everton overpowered us in the last 20 minutes, showing far greater mental and physical stamina I felt, to really give us a lesson in why we weren't ready to win a PL game in 70 minutes.

Bournemouth away in 2005. Won 4-0, glorious sunshine, singing we've got more goals than you've got stands in their unfinished ground. Kids sat in trees outside the ground watching the game for free also amused me. The players came over at full time and watched the fans go through a number of songs for a couple of minutes too as promotion was in touching distance.

Totally agree. This was the day we understood we where on the way to big things, That day we became a big club. Quite ironic that my favorite match is one i only saw 65 minutes of.
