We've done overrated and crap players. What about the best bargains of all time. In recent memory Michu but what about our own utterly Stella record in this area Andy Townsend - bid down from original asking price to I think £175,000 Mark Bowen Ian Crook Mike Phelan (zilch from Burnley) David Williams (again zilch) Kevin Drinkell (not much from Grimsby) Ian Culverhouse (zilch I think?) Everyone will have their favourites
Kevin Reeves was £40k from Bournemouth, sold for £1m - pretty decent return Fashanu was also a similar mark up
£300k agree about holt. he's probably the best bargain buy the club has EVER made! hoolahan was only £250k too
Plus England's number 178, Matthew Gilkes. But seriously, these player + cash deals are fine as long as all parties are in agreement. Say the Vaughan/Olsson deal were to go through, we get shot of somebody who has made it clear he'd rather be somewhere else, and in exchange we get a versatile ambitious player - and save some cash to spend elsewhere in the window. Sorted, in an ideal world
Adam drury, got a few years of him didn't we. But I think wes and Holt for their influence in getting us promoted both times are also stonking deals.
when you think about it, we've had so many terrific deals! problem is, i could probably name just as many stinkers
Paul McVeigh- Free Transfer and a key part of my memories of both our play-off year and title winning teams
