It's the cliched old saying and probably less used philosophy in the current game (Man City have an equally strong attack and defence) However, we all know our back line were too porous last year so perhaps a strong (quality and physically) front 3 can combat that. If we keep RVP that could be a very impressive front 3. RVP is hopefully going to stay close to the same level then Podolski has one of the best shots in the game which would mean opposition have to close him down more and restrict his space and Giroud is a strong physical presence and excellent in the air Don't get me wrong I still think we need to strengthen some personal at the back but this could be the first step. We might win some game 3-2 that we lost 2-1 last year. When RVP was marked out of the game we were there for taking so that won't be the case now. And we have quality to maybe come off the bench and actually help change the game, Chamakh only seemed to encourage the opposition REQUIRED 1. Defensive Midfielder 2. Centre Back who can play at Right Back - Sagan is out for months and Jenkinson isn't good enough at this stage to cover that long 3. Back Up Keeper - Szczesny is quality but he needs competition and adequate cover
A more traditional defensive midfielder like M'Vila would be a great buy for us. Either that or a TOP class ballwinning centreback. (Subotic ,Hummels, Chiellini) Also, I'd like to see Mertesacker get a good run of games alongside Vermaelen because I still think Koscielney is s liability despite his recent improvements.
Shut it with that Defensive skill malarky. We don't want to see or ever see another boring type Chelsea win in the Champions League. As Pirlo said, England tried to adopt the Chelsea way of parking everything they could and nick a win. Thankfully we won't see that garbage in the Euros anymore.
