86 mins on the clock and he puts two up front to try and get a goal to win the match why does he not try and win it from the start with two up front , how is one man going to pressure probably the best footballing back four in the prem, cant be done . we all agree away from home fair enough , but at home give it a go ,however the fact that we did not lose , the stats say we were out played and thats how swansea play , half way into the season i still wondering how we play and why if it does not work ,why it cannot be changed at an earlier point in the match. a lack of confidence to move forward until the other side goes ahead. lets get a few injured players back and a new forward signed and then wave bye bye to connor because if he only gets five mins now what is he going to get with another name on the list in front of him, is he afraid of upsetting fletcher by giving wickham more play time.
Valid points lad but who are you blaming for this last poor performance, MON/Fletcher? I think it's obvious he doesn't rate Wickaham and I agree as I don't think he's ready or if not then he just not as good as we thought when we paid all that money for him. I don't get the "afraid to upset Fletcher" bit, he's our best player! Johnston was poor as was Vaughan and Sess although lively in the wrong places he really needs to step up and start working on his finishing and attacking threat. IMO we need another CB/MD/CF.
Interesting point, leaving the jameson wifi, will ponder on way home, dont think mon is scared to make big decisions though! Agree swansea best footballing side at the sol this season
its not who to blame but five mins what chance is that to turn it into a win hardly time to boil an ,and its nice to called lad im 59
Not a patch on Spurs for me. Nice pretty passing but little more. Not clinical enough to be the best. Cheating bunch as well. McClean dived once and got a yellow card. Their number 7 dived 3 times (all waved away by marriner) and we got nothing
It's a term of endearment over here lad no matter what age on another point I don't think MON will agree with the one man up front tactic as Sess is looked on as a striker behind Fletch. What we can't fathom is why our midfield did very little in supporting our strikers.
We set up not to lose the game and so did Swansea. For all their possession how many clear cut chances did they produce? They must have had 7 or 8 long range and wild shots but Mig only had one real save to make close up. They play wonderful tippy tappy football but to be honest I'd get frustrated as **** watching that all season.
Seem to remember the exact same comments from this game last season....Nice triangles etc....aye topper, how many goals did they score?
O'neill should fu** off back to Ireland & take he's rubbish tactics & subs with him. the fans will turn on him soon then hopefully it's bye bye O'neill.
Keep your comments in your anus sunshine, no one wants to hear any of your pathetic whinging opinions.
I'm pleased I don't seem to be the only one to think that Swansea's brand of football leads to games that are akin to watching paint dry...However, I did feel that we gave them far too much respect last night by playing too deep..Did we have a worthwhile effort on goal?
4-5-1 doesnt mean defensive football. no one was complaining about the formation when we won the last few games. A few weeks ago we would of lost this game, now we got a decent point against an on-form team.
I wasn't questioning the formation, but more the fact that our midfielders were just not supporting our attacking play..
Spot on. If swansea really are that good, how come they won't be in the top 7 at the end of the campaign? Football 's about winning games not pretty passing. Barcelona do both. I don't know many others that can emulate them. Man Utd play some hard, grinding, dull at times but ultimately highly effective winning football. That's why they are the best. That's what all the best teams do best.
For me it was simple, we were poor but did not give two goals away as we usually do and managed a point. Swansea are a team without starts who always seem to give the man on the ball options to pass. We were not a team last night but a collection of individuals who sometimes did good things with with no back up from other team members. Iirc did we have one decent shot on goal that heir keeper had to save, and did Graham miss a sitter at the end, from where I was watching he did. SMB has a thread on how Spanish commentators viewed us compared to Swansea?

Lots of incorrect assumptions and downright garbage here. "Cheating bunch as well" Bit rich that. Sessignon dived twice, one of whoch was almost laughable, no yellow. Even Kevin Phillips agreed. MacLean dived and got a yellow. Who is giving your players these instructions? Cheating bunch my ass. Dyer (7) got clipped from behind every time he got the ball. No dives, hence no yellows. Apart from QPR on the opening day of the season Sunderland were the worst team we've played away all season. You criticise tippy tappy football yet if we'd been a tad more clinical we'd have won 4 - 0. You had two shots at goal, neither of which were from open play and zero, yes zero on target. At times we were a joy to watch and our passing game was up there with the best. As some of you have said the end product was lacking but Sunderland defended well - the only thing you did well all night. This was nothing like last season under Rodgers when you lot and others criticised us for playing it along the back four and not doing much else. A very different team. Laudrup's team. Lastly, the 'welcome' the majority of your fans gave Graham will hopefullly make up his mind. Idiots. So concentrate on your own team's shortcomings rather that criticise the team that played all the football away from home. It's fortunate for you that there are three teams worse than Sunderland in the League this season or you'd definitely be saying hello to Mr Championship.
