not606 has won an award :)

Best Football Forum partnered with Sporting Memories Network

    Judges choice – Not606

Anthony Cooper, founder of the Football Blogging Awards, said: “This years’ awards have smashed our records once again, with more than twice as many votes cast as there were in 2014 and five time as many as 2013. The winners thoroughly deserve this recognition for the total dedication to their craft and their love of the game. We hope that the awards encourage football fans to continue blogging, or to start up new blogs, as they are the heart and soul of football”

and it all started here; http://thenextweb.com/uk/2011/08/14...ow-kick-started-an-online-football-community/

Personally i was directed here by a user named showoff, just before the closure of the old BBC606, at the time i was watching many alternatives, but this appeared to be the most versatile in functions.

I tried some other Gills forums but came under the usual siege mentality of the old boys network if i dare express an alternative opinion, and others were just too OTT for me, so settled for middle of the road and here we are.

I think the prediction league helped bring over many new members from the BBC and still today attracts higher numbers than most lower league boards. Now in the capable hands of Patchy who i'm sure will help make us grow even further.

Twitter and the Gills official community on match day is much bigger and attract a greater audience but it was never about that, it was about offering something for supporters to browse upon from time to time, something different, from the heart and passion of GFC supporters in as many words as you like.

Even being first with the news and having members get on the team coach and pitch sessions in the MA days. In more controversial times getting threatened by the club to remove stuff. Including approaches by tabloids personally for the latest story. But then sadly we cannot always share everything we know to protect confidentiality and its about respect, so sometimes you have to just read between the lines when we post the boring mundane dribble that gets us through the quieter moments :)

    Thank You
