now that is a shout. Admittedly not at his absolute peak wqhen with us, but can't believe he never got a cap
Jason Dodd was a strong fullback at a time when England seemed to have lots. Nicky Holmes anyone - great engine, great loyalty, great League Cup final goal. Tim Flowers was fantastic at Saints but I don't think he played for England until he'd moved to Blackburn.
Matt Le Tiss, i know he did play for his country but it wasn't very often He was fully deserving to be a regular England player which never happened unfortunately.
Best ever Saints player never to play for their country.....Steve Moran ,99 goals in 229 games playing at the highest level is pretty good. Worst ever Saints player who played for their country..... Paul Telfer and Rory Delap.
For me, Nick Holmes was an unsung hero who should have played at International level for somebody. If he hadn't been English he would have done. I could be wrong, forallthesaints, but I'm pretty sure Tim Flowers did play for England while he was with us.
Loved watching Brian Oneil. Hunter,Giles, Bremner and Harris were all scared sh#tless by him. Sadly would not fit in with todays prima-donnas.
Certainly agree about Chris Marsden although he did not really come into his own until late in his career. Brian O'neil was another that some of today's defenders would be terrified by him. Very hard player and could take it as well. Used to live opposite me for about 10 years has gone back up Newcastle way now to be near his daughter I think.
