Please pick you're choice for our best back four from our first team defenders below Jaanmaat Willo Colo Haidara Pretty sure I've included all 1st team defenders available for the rest of this season. I'm expecting alot of variety
This post is very inciteful and could be hugely funny if it wasn't so sad. The club obviously feel we have done enough to be safe but it's still a very risky strategy. The other issue for me is what effect it has on squad moral when we let players go and reduce the team to bare bones.? It's not always about numbers but team spirit also
The squad is a joke, any proffessional football player with an ounce of self-respect would be itching to get out of Newcastle. Some fat owner who does nothing but look at the players as potential profit. But then again half the players really don't give a toss, stepping stone club, how can Sissoko really want to stay, we are the only club in Brittain who do everything they can, not to succeed, but at the same time, not fail. I despise what our club has become and I know Penfold will be sat there all day trying to offload as many players for as high a price as possible, Tiote, Cisse, Ayoze, Cabella and he will succeed
Re: OP - aren't you forgetting a couple more? Janmaat and Coloccini? Oh, wait, nope. You've got them all covered. We literally are a Premier League outfit knowingly heading into our next game with four defenders available. I say "four defenders", obviously I'm being somewhat liberal with applying that term to Mike Williamson. We will now struggle to put out a Premier League-quality back four for the rest of the season, with a minus 6 goal difference, 35 goals conceded (only 3 teams have worse) and £40m in the fcking bank. How on earth is no-one accountable for this??
You are forgetting Streete, Satka, Raylor, Saylor, Colbackio (our Italian left back), Jonas (comfortable at right or left back), Anita (natural right back), Dummett, Ferguson. We've got loads of players and they are all brilliant. CL is on the cards with this lot.
Come now, of course there's accountability. Charnley's prob gonna get a tasty bonus for this situation!
Don't see the problem myself. This policy of playing four at the back is so outdated . If Mr Carver is sensible and rotates two players each game, we should be able to get away with a back-two for most games. It would keep the players fit and free from injury as a bonus. Sorted.....
I think we can rule Streete out of our CB options. Although he's gone to Rangers on loan I think his contract is up in June and therefore can move on for nothing. Another waste of our young talent.
