Post yours here. For me the worst is a toss up between The Corrs' version of Little Wing and Robson and Jerome's version of Unchained Melody. The best is between Whitesnake's version of Bobby Bland's Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City and Johnny Cash's version of Hurt. With the later you don't think of it as a Nine Inch Nails song any more because he completely made it his own. His voice captured the sentiment of the song perfectly and it was made even better by the fact that his voice was quite frail when he recorded it. The former was a fantastic version that has not moved from the live show in almost 30 years and when they sing it, everyone in the audience sings along.
best Glee - don't stop believing Pet Shop Boys - streets have no name Worst - Annie lennox - waiting in Vain Slowly moving millie or whatever her name is who thinks it's all right to butcher Smiths songs.
Nick Cave did a whole LP of covers - Kicking Against The Pricks also the Cramps did an LP of mostly covers - Off The Bone, some good ones on those. As for the worst: boy bands, girl bands, X Factor winners - too many to choose.
Best cover song would be Electrifying by Spoiler - a heavy metal cover of You're The One That I Want from Grease. Quality. Worst cover song ever? The list is feckin endless!!! Boy George - Everything I Own - "Look at me I don't take heroin any more" comeback single was an awful version of the Ken Boothe version (also a cover of the Bread original) Anything punted out by Stock Aitken and Waterman in the 80's & 90's. Anything by the Pet Shop Boys or Take That All Saints rape of Under The Bridge by RHCP was one of the worst.
Best cover ever was Rolf Harris version of Stairway to Heaven. It was so good I struggle to recall the original artists so I simply refer to them as ****s
**** knows, all I do know is their musical acheivements pale into insignificance when compared to Rolf.
Rolf Harris had Two Little Boys at Number One. Next door at Number Three Gary Glitter had a couple of underage Cambodian girls.
