Now that the unwrapping is done I'm reminded not all presents bring equal delight. Among the good this year is a bottle of Basil Hayden's Kentucky Bourbon...not easy to get in the UK. Once, as a boy, I'd dropped hints about a football annual and a friend of my mother's gave me a football annual-sized parcel. Sadly it contained a rather grubby second hand life of Tennyson. What are your highs and low in the present-receiving world?
I had a wonderful amazing present from my children which brought a few tears to my old jaded eyes yesterday. After my mum passed away 23 years ago, my sister took charge of the family photo collection and has not been seen much since. But Little Miss W_Y nagged and nagged and nagged (she is good at that!) her to send over a big collection of pictures of me as a child with my family, also of my old mum and dad and families - she had them copied and but together a wonderful album of these old photo's. It's just wonderful - pictures of me as a very little boy with my brother and sister playing in the garden, on my old dads lap, old works Xmas parties...even as a 14 year old at my sisters wedding with a huge mop of hair (my kids had a great laugh!). A beautiful present that will bring years of pleasure..
I didn't get this, but my brother in law did. Looks like nothing, but seriously good value at five quid. Well made and surprisingly funny. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gentlemens-...UTF8&qid=1419618901&sr=8-1&keywords=face mats
